Olives
Pickles
Vinegar
Oil
Salt
Pepper
Oregano...
It's the best.

Have a real sub from a somewhere in the Philadelphia area and you'll realize that Quizno's ain't crap. There's probably more meat in a 1/4 portion of a Casupulo's sub then there is in an entire Quiznos. Hell, even Wawa makes a better sub than Quiznos.
So you're suggesting I drive up to Philly area everytime I want a sub?
Oh, I don't doubt that a real, hand-made, from scratch sub would be better. There's a number of local, non-franchise places here that make outstanding subs. I was just impressed that a franchise sub shop could be that good. It's kind of like going to In n' Out expecting McDonald's. (Though by no means am I saying Quiznos is on the same level as In n' Out. Quiznos is damn tasty, but In n' Out is a standard by which all others are measured)Originally posted by: glenn1

I somewhat agree. I don't out-and-out hate Subway, but I was surprised when one day I finally realized that of the major sub chains -- Blimpie, Port of Subs, Subway, Quiznos, Togo's -- Subway was the crappiest one. They're the McDonald's of subs. It's not necessarily bad food, but it's definitely nothing amazing, or even noteworthy. And what boggled my mind even more was that they're the biggest and most prominent sub franchise, at least in this area. Though when I think about it further, McDonald's is the biggest and most prominent burger franchise in the area. I guess both have a bigger advertising budget from cutting the "quality food" budget. 😛Originally posted by: DBL
Are modern culinary tastes so distorted today that Subway is actually something to get excited about? There is one on my block in midtown, which I have the displeasure of walking by every day. That rancid putrid yeasty smell indicative of only Subway makes me gag every day w/o fail.
I'm not a big fan.

LOL, no, but next time you're in Philly you should have one to establish a proper baseline for what a sub should taste like 🙂
Hrm, I have some issues with spicy food -- mostly heartburn -- but it does sound inviting. Mayhaps I'll pop a few Tums and have one.Originally posted by: Yossarian

There were talks of a Subway coming to my parents' town, but when the new Chevron station went in they also put in a Port of Subs inside. We were all happy the way that turned out.
I'm in Carson City, and they have 3 here alone. To put that in perspective, we have one Burger King. Reno has somewhere around 6.Originally posted by: KillyKillall
You have to be in Vegas. I used to work at Port Of Subs when I was in high school. Unless you're up in Reno where they have 1 location. Port of Subs isn't a major chain..compared to the others. The number 1 at port of subs was decent (italian), but it was better when I made my own so I could put as much meat on as I wanted. Also, you're right, Capriotti's is one of the best.
At least 5 years ago, maybe more. The earliest concrete memory I have about Port of Subs is when I won a free 2-foot sub from them from a local radio station. That was 1999 I think. It was shortly after the Matrix came out; I remember because it was one of those "be caller 9 when you hear this song" deals and the song in question was My Own Summer by the Deftones, fresh off the Matrix soundtrack.Originally posted by: KillyKillall
How long ago did PoS (no pun intended) move into Carson City?
