So I was insanely bored during my Thanksgiving Vacation, and I decided to buy a copy of HL2 off steam to take a break from GTA San Andreas.

Of course after over 2 hours downloading the damn thing, I go to run it and it locks at the "loading" screen. I go to properties on the game, and it says it's only 97% downloaded. wtf.

Why in the heck would it try to run the game if the full game isn't installed? So now I have to delete the game and spend another 2-3 hours redownloading the damn thing again, because there is no way to download the other 3%.

Steam sucks.

You sound just like another one of those morons that goes "WAAAHHHH! It doesn't work and I don't know how to fix it! The problem is probably incredibly easy to fix, but I'm a lamer and don't know WTF I'm doing! WAAAAHHHHHHH! It must be someone else's fault that I can't fix it! WAAAAHHHH!!"

Yeah the problem IS incredibly easy to fix....

If you are coding software, make sure to analyze the data that is downloaded first to ensure that 100% of it is there before simply unpacking it into a dir and telling the user that it is ready to go, and therefore fvcking it all up and wasting their time.

I thought HL2 was DELAYED forever to fix stupid crap like this.

And this obviously doesn't belong in the software/appz forum, because it is not asking for troubleshooting. It is simply ranting, and therefore OFF TOPIC.

Fvcking trolls.

He didn't ask for help, he's Ranting, which is completely appropriate for OT.

Not that you ever rant, Nik. 😉

I had no problems with Steam, i personally think it is a good idea and the implementation is as good as can be expected given the scale of the thing.
