gmail's been pretty good at catching spam and throwing it into the SPAM folder, lately, for the past 2 weeks or so, i get a lot of these stupid emails with nonsense text with a picture of the actual SPAM advertisement, these are not being caught by the filter because of probably the nonsense text.

how are they sending these emails out, i mean google has probably got most of the spammers blocked out by IP!!???

i still don;t understand the idea of SPAM, when 99.9% of the population knows that it is SPAM, who in their right mind would click on them or read them?

In the last year, I have had exactly one false positive and one false negative. I usually get about 3 spams a day in the spam folder. Couldn't be happier.

Yes, gmail.

I have been more careful with this address than I was with my last one. Not posted on any of my websites.

Pretty much you are running into an issue all spam firewalls are having trouble with: image spam. The spammers figured out that most firewalls look at spam and calculate scores based on specific words appearing, patterns of text, and even the structure of the email (the scoring varies per firewall and per configuration). Once they realized how the spam was being scored they found a hole; those analysis tools don't work (as well if at all) on emails where the entire email is an image (granted it's simply a jpg of the same emails they were sending originally and getting blocked). The spam firewalls have been working to fight back and it's started working, but will take some time. They just have to adapt tools to analyze images now.

Sounds like gmail is just a little slow in getting a solution to battle back. Then again they probably know alot more about why it's getting through than I do ;)
