Maybe I missed it, but do we know he is a Muslim or are we going with that because of the name?

Talk Radio said he was a Naturalized Citizen - went to high school here.

Either way, the prevalence of guns in the US will allow anyone, legal or otherwise, to get automatic weapons with ease.

No more snackbars for this guy.

Except he didn't use and automatic weapon. Please stick with the facts.

To be clear

S.C. does not require registering a pistol sold privately, meaning Roof could have gotten one anywhere. And Roof only had the drug charge pending, not convicted. Some where I read that it wasn't a felony charge, just a misdemeanor.

They don't require registration of one bought via dealer either.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/17/u...uspect-was-ordinary-boy-neighbors-recall.html

In the last two or three months, Mr. Abdulazeez had begun showing up rather regularly at Friday Prayer at the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga, a large mosque and cultural center, said Dr. Azhar S. Sheikh, a founding member of the center’s board.
Dr. Sheikh said that he showed no signs of extremism.
He said the family regularly worshiped at the mosque. He thought the young man had stopped attending services because he had moved away, and he assumed that Mr. Abdulazeez was attending again because he was back in town and staying with his parents.

One much lighter fact about Chattanooga - every single household and business throughout the whole county has access to gigabaud Internet for $80/month or 100 Mbps for $60 through our Electric Power Board, in addition to those who have the choice of Comcast and/or AT&T. It won't keep Islamic radicals from murdering you, but it sure helps you discuss on the Internet.

I think we're going to find out all the Marines who were killed had one or more tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan only to be killed by a domestic terrorist. Pretty damned sad state of affairs.

Fair winds and following seas shipmates!!! You will be missed

All that training is useless unless they were taught to dodge bullets like in the Matrix. Gun free zones do little to deter criminals.

Their training helped them survive in Iraq and Afghanistan, they never expected they needed to be on high alert for potential enemy action at a Naval Reserve center.

Gun free zones are like locks and doors, they keep honest people honest.

We can be sure that the weapon was of a sort that would make liberal gun grabbers wet their pants just at the sight of it. Or AK-47 like. Same thing.

But the thing is it appears this is radical Islamic terrorism. I mean, how can we expect radical Muslims to not use AK-47s? Then they'd just be gangbangers!

Honestly I love what happened after Charleston, because it shows what we're capable of when we ignore the gun and focus on the issue at hand. At least the discussion was focused on the right issue, racism in that case. Why was it focused on racism? Because he used a 1911, a 50-state legal gun with a 7-10 round magazine who's design is over a century old. I bet it even had wood grips. Not something you can sensationalize, lie about and spawn national outrage with. So we were able to get to the core issue and at least fucking talk about it.

Same issue here. Now that it's all but been established this is terrorism and not homegrown insanity, the gun fits the image and isn't all that alarming.

The media filter for semi-automatic weapons:
1. Was it all black?
Yes - Call it an M16.
No - goto 2.
2. Was the stock and/or forearm brown wood?
Yes - Call it an AK47.
No - goto 3.
3. Call it a machine gun.

4. Wet pants.

I thought I covered this. :colbert:

I was reading the back stories of these Marines and it sickens that another Muslim decides to turn traitor to his Country.

I don't want to get banned by saying anything bad about Islam here but all I have to say is that more Muslims will continue to do these types of attacks and worse if they could.

I better stop typing because I am so mad at Muslims right now.

Bashing Christians is on the approved list. Why would Muslims get a pass?

I pretty much feel like we should be anticipating 100's of these attacks in the coming months. I think it's going to get crazier before it calms down.

And President Bush Obama is going to declare marshal law and never leave office.

Maybe you just need a breather.

My bet it that is was a semi-automatic rifle that resembled an AK-47. They are not that difficult to find/purchase.

LOL.. so they don't even mention what gun it was exactly but just make it 'scary sounding.' Scrubs...

Anyhoo, didn't the NRA a few decades ago try to suggest that blacks should not be able to own guns (was it during the Civil Rights movement?)?

So, a bill that says muzzie males between 18 - 50 cannot own guns? Prophet? :D

Actually it was the Dems that said the blacks shouldn't vote.

It's actually $70 a month for gigabit from EPB. Here's a speed test I took last year:
