Wolf Spider, big, nasty, not deadly.

NEGATIVE GHOST RIDER!

That is definitely a brown recluse. Good call.

Crap. OK, thanks. I have personally seen some bites from these things, and they scare the shvt out of me.

I kill at least one of these a week, and the Raid gets a few more before I find them alive. I probably spray once a month, all over my apartment. Now, I am glad I do.

One a week! Wtf, JESUS FVCKING CHR!ST MAN! Get that place fumigated or something! I would be afraid to sleep at night.

1 a week easily. I spray all around my bed, trust me.

That is definitely a BROWN RECLUSE. Good call on killing it.

ok, OP does it look more like this
Brown Recluse

or

Wolf Spider

???

I'm  now. The wolf spider looks "fatter" than the one I just killed.

A wolf spider will be more hairy than a recluse.

Without having a Macro shot of the dead spider I still reserve my judgement.

This thing wasn't hairy.

Next time, I'll try to get better pictures before the Raid shower.

You mean you still don't admit that it is a brown recluse?

<--- Is an Idiot, and very tired.

I didn't realise that the second picture was a macro shot... yes it is a brown recluse and you should contact your apartment people and let them know to have the place fumigated...

They would probably have to fumigate the entire complex, every week.

I lived out East of Memphis for about 4 years, and saw the same thing. I have been living in downtown Memphis, right by the river, for the past year. Fairly consistent amount of recluse. I guess it's just the entire fvcking county.

Either that, or they are following me.

Dude..what freaks me out is I have family that lives real close to/and in Memphis. I have been there 3 times and I really didn't know the area had Brown recluses till now. Next time I go...I am gonna be all freaked out.

That would be the deadly, necrotizing Syringerus Maximus, of the NEFropod family..

If you have brown recluses, being careful and spraying now and then will only go so far. For every one you see & kill, there are probably a few you don't. On top of it being difficult to be careful 24/7, especially while sleeping, they're quite aggressive for spiders. I'd get on the landlord's ass about it.

Try coming home and having a Wolf spider with a backload of babies sitting on your bed when you are about to crawl in it and go to sleep.

Are they really that aggressive? I always thought most brown recluse bites came from rolling over on top of them in bed, or putting on infested clothing.

Damn you. Actually that brings back a memory. I once found one of these on my floor, and went to spray, and as soon as I did, about a hundren little babies jumped off it's back. I went through half the can.

That was my reaction, my next was to grab the raid and go "Die you fvckers!!!!" and go sleep on the couch, after checking it for spiders...

Christ... Not that recluses are anything to mess around with, but IMO, putting yourself into a bottle and then spraying RAID all over the place just might be more harmful.. lol

No, BRs are definitely not aggressive but they like to hide in the dark where you accidentally piss them off (shoes, under your bed, etc.) And no, I'm not just trying to freak you out. If you are seeing that many, you absolutely should bang your shoes to empty them before you put them on - every time. And I'd be pretty creeped out myself.

Wolf spiders are a trip too - I hate the fact that there are a million fvcking babies on their back. My kids like to stomp them then stomp the babies though. Entertainment for 5 minutes or so.
