YASECT: Cop Drags 77 Year Old Woman From Vehicle

Answer a sentence that ends in "or I'll take you to jail" with a "go ahead" and you should expect it to happen.

did he really have to threaten jail to an old lady? the officer should have handled this with a bit more patience and civility.

he asked repeatedly for her License and insurance. she refused. finally he had to threaten her and she told him "go ahead" she gambled and lost.

she dug the hole she is in she deserves everything she got.

"I told you to give me your license and registration."
"I'll give it to you."
"Too late now!"

Love it when people think they're above the law.

Looks like she got more action than she has probably seen in 2 or 3 decades. I'm betting she creamed herself after that one. Women like a man who takes charge, and I doubt she's had anyone take charge of her like that in ages. Who would want to? D:

:hmm: /barf

Saw this on the news this morning, and it really pissed me off.

Why wasn't the cop shooting her... or at least beating her with his old-lady-beating-stick?

For shame cop, for shame. :hmm:

im not saying she acted properly in that situation, but he damn sure could have handled that better himself. I dont care whats going on, you dont put hands on a 77 yold woman. What if that was your grandmother or mother. You would not stand for it.

You're a little too willing to put words in other people's mouths. If anyone related to me is that damn stupid they deserve what they get.

maybe so, but that doesn't excuse her behavior, and that the incident could have been avoided if she acted responsibly.

HAHAHAHA "I need backup". I know that's probably procedural, but still LOL.

What a fucking waste of our tax money. If you actually think about what's going on here, it's absurd. The lady was a grouchy old thing, but is this really worth it? Ah well, the cop looked old, and he's from Texas, so he probably eats too many burgers. Maybe he'll have a massive coronary soon enough.

I've known a decent amount of police officers, and most of them have been terrific people, it sucks that we usually only see douchebags and dipshits in the news.

They both acted like douches. The few times I've been pulled over, the first thing I reach for is my license and insurance card. You have a few minutes as the cop is going to be running your plates to check for any problems such as outstanding warrants or to make sure the vehicle isn't stolen. If she had those READY and told the cop, "sir I have a medical emergency here as well, can you help?" She might have received better treatment.

Still the cop also acted like a giant prick. Was the old lady being a douche to him? Sure, but that doesn't excuse his actions either.

Yes, yes, and yes. Too many people are willing to be disrespectful to cops such as this example, and on the same token, too many cops are itching to be complete assholes at the drop of a hat just because they can.

At what age are cops supposed to just suck it up because they're dealing with a cranky old bat? 70, 80, 90, 100... ?

That's best left up to the good judgment and discretion of the officer. Usually they're smarter than this. It's just that bad apples make the news. If this was a video of the cop defusing the situation and calmly going about his day, it wouldn't be getting hits and we wouldn't be posting about it 😀

It almost reminds me of the cop who dumped the quadriplegic violently onto the floor out of his wheelchair because he wouldn't get out according to the cop's order.

As to the old bat in the video, I do have a little bit of empathy. A bladder infection, if she's telling the truth, is a horrible thing to deal with. My wife has been in the hospital since July 2nd due to complications with her pregnancy, and she's had a bladder infection while there (related to her surgeries), and she says it's intensely painful and ever-present discomfort. And when you have to go to the bathroom in the most intense way possible, I can imagine putting up with some revenue-generator badgering you is the last thing you want to deal with.

You're a little too willing to put words in other people's mouths. If anyone related to me is that damn stupid they deserve what they get.

yeah you say that now but I doubt it would remain true if it was that scenario, and if so you are a bigger dick than both of them combined.

Thats why I said she was wrong as well, but he was way out of line. It should have been avoided all the same. He should have avoided it. Hes the one in the professional position not her. He looks up professional and it makes him look unfit for his role.

There are at least 6 different ways that could have been handled by him and only 2 by her

At what age do you think someone no longer has to follow laws?

As an officer (ex-officer?), and someone whom I personally respect, I think you know the answer to that question. I also expect that you know the value of discretion and that officers don't have to take every perceived disrespect of their authority so personally and escalate the situation beyond necessity. If the lady was telling the truth (who knows), there are any number of ways the situation could have been defused in a less costly and ridiculous manner.

its not about not following laws, I agree she was wrong but I also agree that no one deserves to be treated that way either. This isnt some 26 yold guy in physical shape, this isnt even a 77 yold woman posing a anger or threat to him physically. This is a pissy old 77 yold woman cawing and clucking.

Why drag her out of her car so she falls at least 2 feet to the ground, then drag her across the ground to pick her up then force her way to the police car?

Again that could have been handled so many different better less physical ways.

you are a police officer?

Why do you guys always stand up for asshole cops, no matter what. You could have a video of a perp handcuffed and a cop come up and shoot him in the head point blank and all the cops would defend it.

It makes me sick. And you wonder why people hate the police so much and mistrust the very people who we should look to w/out hesitation at any given time.

When 2/3 cops are assholes who abuse their power, and its becoming more and more open and public every year. No consequences come to those who abuse the power (almost never) and every one of their own defend the actions then its time to maybe step back and remove the system or at least cripple its power, More transparency, stronger laws against Officers who break the laws they are supposed to uphold, more cameras on cops themselves and double redundancy. Plus im all for removing pensions for retired LEO and reducing salaries.

Cut Politicians, LEO, and Government pensions and salaries as far as im concerned. Raise education and county health care budgets.
