3-4# chuck roast
1 6 oz can portobella mushroom sauce
1 big thing of chicken or beef broth
2 tbsn lowrys seasoned salt
1 tbsn dried basil
1-2 tspn fresh cracked pepper
1 tbsn salt
1 cup flour
couple of medium yellow onions; coarsly chopped
lentils; washed
potatos (3-5)
peas
carrots
corn
Heat some a couple tbspn of oil in heavy pan
Mix salt and flour in large bowl and cut up the roast into chucks
Coat meat with flour and sear over a high heat browning the meat/flour on all sides, pull out and set aside
Add some stock to the pan to deglaze the encrusted stuff off the bottom of the pan. add your onions to the pan and cook over a medium low heat until they become translucent. Add oil if necc. If you like a thicker stew broth, add some flour too (1-2 tbsn).
Pour the rest of the stock into a crock pot, add lentils, braised meat, mushroom sauce, seasoned salt, pepper, basil, and onions. Throw in some garlic too if you want.
Bring up to high heat, simmer for a few hours, then turn down to low and cook overnight. Add potatos and vegetables 3-4 hours before you plan on eating.
Serve with crusty bread and homemade beer, like a nice oatmeal stout. Bed your wife and pass out.
