Is answering your own quesiton is too cerebral for you?

Walking away is great and all, but I'm sick of running away because someone wants to talk one life and live another.

Maybe the thought of not being a hypocrite is too cerebral for them.

There are hypocrites in this world, it's a fact of life, regardless of their religious beliefs, because we are all human. Certainly, there are Christians who really do stick to their beliefs, but they're all fallible.

You're asking a question that answers itself. Just call them out on their own hypocrisy, I don't understand what more to it there is.

Rarely just calling someone out works.

I want to be able to say, you say you are a good Christians, and you judge me by the merits that you yourself have a good moral foundation.

Your religion prides yourself in being, honest, open, accepting, in not abusing drugs, alcohol, and kind.

You are none of the above. Before you judge me you should look into the glimmer in your minds eye.

I just want input.

From all the posts you've made.. it still sounds like you just want a pissing match.. just deal with it man.. Hypocrites exist.. Why in the world do you care what they say about you? You don't want input, you simply want a way to get into a pissing match for self-gratification..

Your being hypocritical yourself.. You say you want input, when you cant even realize that all you want to do is rant because someone is talking nasty about you..

I'm not reading this whole thread. Everyone's a hypocrite, and everyone's a fool- especially those who say they're not. Atheists and agnostics are not immune.

Christians are those who imitate and obey Christ, not those who use His holy name as justification for evil and self-righteousness. OP, if you want to learn what Christianity is really about, you can PM me, and I'll direct you to some resources that discuss what the Bible and Jesus actually say. Then you can see for yourself if the people you are describing are Christian or not.

I agree. But, if human beings by their very nature were not judgmental, God would not have had to send Jesus to die for us.

I find myself saying this alot recently.

It doesn't make it right.

People have to find that out on their own, and I'm suprised at the amount of people that don't figure that out.

Unfortunately like every other group a small portion ruin the image for everyone else and leave the rest of the population scratching their heads.

All I'm lookin for is some understanding.. I'm not here to criticize.

Amen. Too many use the name of Jesus Christ in vain purposes as some means other than why He came.

Test what anyone says in light of the scriptures. Especially those in a position of teaching. Ask any "Christian" why they believe what they believe, and why they have the hope they have. If they cannot answer you, they are not likely followers of Christ.

No doubt you'll find wannabe's in any religion. So I'll share with you a joke:

Jesus came down to earth and was walking through a small town on Sunday morning. Sitting outside a church on the steps was a black man. Jesus asked the black man "Why are you sitting outside during the service?". The black man replied "They won't let me in there." Jesus responded "Do not feel bad my child. They haven't let me in there in many years."

I hope and pray you seek out and find some true followers of Christ, so you may see His true glory in them. :sun:

It sounds like you have issues with a few individuals and are trying to blame their religion(or Christ, or the Catholic church, or whoever) for it.

Seems weak to me but I'm still trying to figure out the point of this thread if not to encourage more hate on Christians.

I feel the need to post the whole passage about the verse someone quoted you earlier:

Luke 6:37-42
"37"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

39He also told them this parable: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

41"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

This is straight from the mouth of Jesus. As others mentioned earlier, sometimes people claim to be Christians but act otherwise. I am not the judge therefore I don't decide whether these people are actually Christians or not. But when decided whether or not to heed their advice I pray and look at the fruits of their spirit (Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfullness, gentleness, and self control) to see if they are approaching me in love or otherwise.

This passage is NOT to be used as an excuse not to listen to other brothers/sisters in Christ just because they have sinned. It is a warning against a person judging another person's heart (something we cannot fully know). The reason this is dangerous is because NO ONE is perfect and you cannot know everything about my life my seeing a few of my actions.

In closing, I would invite you to read the Bible, especially the gospels to search for truth as well as seek out a local pastor who can help you with your struggle. Please don't allow these people to turn you off to Christianity just as you should not allow religious extremists to turn you off to any religion.

I'm a Christian. I make mistakes. I don't call people out for theirs, especially if I do it myself.

Look man, it comes down to this. Live your life the way you see fit. You need to do what's right for you. If people don't like it, tell them to go fsck themselves. Life is too damned short for you to worry about what a bunch of people who don't know you think of you. You can't change what they say, but you can change how you deal with it.

These people are human and are therefore hypocrites. We all are.

No quite the contrary, I'm trying to find out why a minority part of a particular religion twists a good thing to suit their own needs.

Then you're a good man, plain and simple.

I wish there were more reasonable people like you, religious or not.

Even if they do wrong themselves, to not point out the error of someone else just because you do something wrong is fallacy as well. Point each other's out, don't just leave both sides to fester...

Sigh* you make so much out of nothing..

You are starting with a faulty premise. Just because someone claims to be a Christian does not make them Christians. Being a Christian requires that you follow the teachings of Christ. If they don't (and it doesn't sound like they do), they are simply not Christians. Starting an argument and quoting verses etc will accomplish nothing. These people are Christian in name only --- ignore them and find others to interact with.

The scriptures are very clear on who is to do the judging -- God, not humans. Judge not, lest ye be judged yourself. Let he without sin cast the first stone etc.

Regardless of whether you are religious or not, I've found many nuggets of wisdom in the scriptures that apply perfectly to our world.
