Anyway, i have built 2 servers, identical from dell.com
both of them have 2 hdds in a raid1 array
EXACT same hardware.. One is working, one isnt.

Is it possible for my to swap out one of the working servers hdds with the non working server..

do ya get my drift?

Take out one of 'server1''s HDDs (out of the raid1 array)

and put it in 'server2'
then hopefully i can figure out a way to make server2 clone the 'server1' disk image on the other 'server2' disk

is this even possible?

if they are using the same model hd then sure, should not be a problem to be able to use the other drive.

There must be something different between them.
Check cabeling and jumpers first.

Yes, works for me.
You could swap both disk, this way you can check if it's one of the HD's.

What do you mean with "not working" ?
Is the HD not recognized ? Is the array offline ? Are there i/o errors when working ?
That could give a hint on where to search for an error.
SCSI or IDE ?

whooooaaaa guys

im having SOFTWARE problems,
And to reconfigure it all it would cost me about 5000$ cause i gotta send the box off to the company

the 2 servers are exactaly the same..
