i used to wonder why people hired people for lawncare/brush/tree removal
i know all too well now why
 
It's absolutely beautiful outside today - current temp is 43 degrees, and sunny. I'm just waiting for another cup of coffee, then I'm really looking forward to going outside and doing yardwork.

i was too but i get overwhelmed easy
 
i dont miss it. i used to have 2 hours a week to do in the summer when i owned my own place, and i hated every minute of it.
 
freak ice storm/freeze yesterday might have killed my garden and plants. 🙁 Veges were just starting to poke through the dirt. All the buds on the crepe myrtles, and trees were just starting to turn to leaves and are now black.

We had a few weeks at 80 degrees straight before this. Oh well, back outside to see what is left.
 
Looking after my mom's 5 acres cured whatever desire I might have had to do yard work.

You need to look forward to the actual act, not the end result. Then, you'll be dissapointed when the job is complete. Look at it as a way of getting unintentional exercise of the best sort. If you treat yardwork as recreation, you'll find yourself starting to learn a lot more and getting into more involved projects. The tasks will whittle away gradually.
 
I live on an acre lot with close to 40 trees of various types. Between leaf piles the size of my house, falling branches, twigs, entire falling trees, tracked in cherry & mulberry goo, and 250 gallons of acorns a year to pick up I'm throwing in the towel.

We bought a lot that was an acre and a half. 2/3 of it is heavily wooded, but the other 1/3 is a nice cleared area with no trees to worry about. I can't wait to get over there.

If the plants are native species, they'll bounce back. Veggies, I don't know. They might be OK if it was just a brief freeze. Where do you live? You can juse hay as mulch to protect against random early/late season freezes. But if it was a freak incident and really rare, I dunno. Hope for the best, I guess. 🙂

EXACTLY! If my goal was to get all the yard work finished, I'd be really, really depressed. A crew of 10 couldn't do it in a month. I thnk today I'll see if a neighbor with an outside wood burner wants the pine logs that are unsplittable by hand - that'll take care of one big pile, then I have a bunch of stumps that just might burn today; they've been in a pile for a year now. I have to put in 1000 or so feet of 4 foot woven wire fencing, tensioned - not today. And, I have a couple hundred feet of chain link fencing to install... just possibly, I might start it today.
 
I did yard work yesterday. Now, I'm continuing later in the day. I need to climb on the roof and blow away the leaves. Come back down and then bag the suckers.

In a few weeks, I'm going to call a tree trimming company to give me a quote. The branches are spitting to much leaves on the ground and its dangerously getting close to the roof. I can't believe I'm putting more money on this house. Sometimes, I wish I lived in a condo.
 
I hate it as well, which is why I don't do any beyond basic mowing and the trimming of the bushes that I can't cut down.
 
It flooded here last night. A house 3 streets back had water coming through the front door. We lost a lot of plants at the nursery too. I had planned on mowing grass today, but I still have standing water in the yard. On the plus side, it is 80 degrees and sunny.

I'm in Orchard Park south of Buffalo and I've been looking for an excuse to do some yard work since I've been cooped up all winter. I have nothing in the works though.
 
When I moved into my house, I loved doing the yard work. It was very satisfying.

Now, I hate it.
 
While doing yard work, I heard two loud booms. It turned out it was the sonic boom from the shuttle landing.

Anyway, I'm stopping for a bit. A branch fell on my head. It is very windy outside. Good thing it was a little branch. No damage done.
