BTW, this is just another example of what I've been saying all along. He had tinted windows and although unintentional, he alleviated the threat that the officer percieves by having them down. How about this, the next time one of you gets pulled over for a "reasonable" infraction, try placing your hands clearly in the car, preferably on the window ledge of your open driver's side window until the officer approaches and take careful instruction from him/her when they ask for license, registration and proof of insurance. I can damn near guarantee that you will get out of the ticket just on that action alone.

My windows were down the whole time I was driving. It's summer and I kept my windows down, so he'd have no clue that I had the fronts tinted.
I wasn't moving around or anything I sat still.

i did a california rolling stop at around 10pm at night near my girlfriends house (I normally stop all the way) and this CHP (california highway patrol) officer pulled me over and gave me a rolling stop ticket. BOO TO HIM!
I was polite and everything yet that asshole gave me a ticket anyway. WTF!? Clean record too here. Cost me $135 dollars. BAH!
I hope he gets a rolling stop ticket too.

My friend got pulled over for supposedly doing 36 in a 35mph zone. No ticket though, just a verbal warning.

It was kind of rediculous though.

They are called State Police for a reason. That means that they have jurisdiction over all the roads in the state. I was told that specifically by a friend of mine who works for the Virginia State Police. It's a common myth that State Police doesnot have jurisdiction on city roads ... but its true, they have control over all the roads in the state and If I am not mistaken, Its the same in every state. Someone plz correct me if I am wrong.

I dont have a lot of info/facts on this subject, but i think in CA, the CHP(ca highway patrol)have juristiction over just the highways. Of course they will pull you over if it is obvious you are breaking the law.

Cadet study guide for The CHP. Contains jurisdictional information. In pdf format.
"The CHP patrols all State Freeways in the 58 counties, including those within city Limits.... The Department has traffic jurisdiction on all public streets and roads in unincorporated areas under state and county control."

Also, the Charter provides for the CHP to provide interdepartmental assistance to Police Depts. that request extra enforcement assistance. Also, the CHP is involved in Stolen Auto Recovery and Abatement, Anti- drug trafficking enforcement and Anti-DUI efforts.
NEVER think they cannot give you a ticket.

<Mom's husband is ex-CHP. I've gotten more safe driving lectures than you..... also got a ride along, which is not to be confused with a reach - around.

Im not so sure thats a good lesson. Every cop I've been friendly and polite with has given me a ticket. Every cop I've treated like they were off their rocker for thinking I was speeding, and that I was pissed that they even dare pull me over, has let me go. So I guess it really depends on random factors.

30% is really light. I've passed by police many of occasions and they don't seem to mind.
as far as Inspection goes, i won't have problem passing it. :p

what inspection??? the only inspection that we have in california is smog check,

I think we have inspection every couple years or so. They check everything including emission, lights, blah blah..
I can either get it done at a DMV Facility for free or take it to a certified inspection center.

that sucks, so basically everything in your car must work or it will not pass inspection. In callifornia your car brakes can be bad and u can still drive as no we don't have any car inspection other then smog check
