YAPSU thread...

Hey gang. I'm back to running my Sparkle FSP-250 with a whopping 13A on the +12 as my 460W Enhance that I bought used went flaky - I guess I let it overheat once too often (the hazards of running one's PSU fan off one's fan controller). My USB ports are shot too - wonder if it's a coincidence?

Any interesting new candidates in the 350-400W range? Two must-haves: active PFC and full-range AC autosensing.

Oh Brer Bear, Pleeeaase don't toss me into the briar patch! 😉

price range? As always ill recommend some Seasonics in that range, but enhance/enermax are typically good calls. FSP can be good, silverstone, etc. Price range is a pretty big factor IMO.

Heh! Let's get this out of the way...

I tried to tell you about Enhance! 😉

Hey, sometimes you get the bear... sometimes the bear gets you!

Since you're a cheap C.S. I would suggest an Antec Earth Watts EA-430...

I'm thinking about buying one for bench builds and emergency backup.

Fry's has them on sale for, like, 39 bones right now -- was gonna stop there today, but ran out of time.

Vin,
Those earthwatts PSUs look nice. Provantage beats the Egg by$15. at the bottom line on the EA380.

At least my USB ports are back up. I got really quick service from Colordrives on eBay on a new USB card - bought it on Wednesday and got it today from California. It's a nice generic card with five USB 2 ports based on a NEC chip. It also has one set of pins for an internal connector. Under $10. shipped.

And it looks like good buddy, rise (who also bumps my FS/T listing quite often), made me the offer of the week/month/year on a replacement PSU - no way I could refuse. I hope the cables are long enough... Thanks for all your input.

Snagged one @ Fry's today... none on the shelf, but they had 15 in the back room...

This is a damn nice PSU for a cheapy! Think I'll put it in my wife's machine...

A search of the UL code shows that this thing is manufactured by Seasonic. 😀
