YAPoliceBeatingT: Authorities probe beating video of Maryland student

So they arrested a kid with assault on police, plus other charges. i.e. he would have gone to jail and probable been kicked out of school. DA moves forward and seems he is done in as the cops say he hit a cop and even a police horse.

"Authorities arrested Donat and McKenna on suspicion of assaulting an officer and disorderly conduct. Documents filed by police allege that the two were causing a disturbance and that they struck mounted officers and their horses, causing minor injuries, when authorities intervened."

and the police try and cover the beating by saying in the report...

""Arrested 1 and Arrested 2 were both kicked by the horses and sustained minor injuries," the charging documents said."

BUT now a video comes out and does not show that at all. In fact it was the police that hit him. He fell to the ground and they just kept it going.
Wonder what would have happened if there was no video.

Stupid kid should have never skipped up to the officers and said a comment.

I was just wondering how the forum apologists were going to spin this one. I'm assuming sarcasm on your part. The forum stooges are much more long winded, and fanciful with their explanations :^D

Don't worry, Obamacare will take care of him and his injuries.

Sure looks bad to me, especially after the bald faced lies in the statements from the cops.

And I'm usually the first to give cops the benefit of any doubt.

Which is worse? Always assuming the cops are right? Or always assuming the cops are wrong? I tend to think either way is terrible.

From TFA:

In a statement Monday, McKenna's family told CNN affiliate WJLA-TV in Washington that "some of these characters ought to go to jail. ... Some ought to merely be booted off the force, and the remainder should be properly trained to discover that force is not always necessary, and brutality is always wrong."

I agree. Whether that actually happens or not is another matter.

Here's hoping for some jail time for the officer's involved.

There's the $1,000,000 question. I'm betting they get no jail time whatsoever. If it were you or me, we'd probably get at least a year. That's assuming they didn't try to go for some lame attempted murder charge. These guys will get fired, and that's about it.

they are already setting up why and how nobody will get nailed. in the article the police say its hard to tell who it was since they were in riot gear. You also know damn well none of the other officers are going to say who it was.

they aren't even sure if the people who filled out the police report are teh officers.

so nothing is going to happen with this besides the kid getting a lot of money.

"Prince George's County police Chief Roberto Hylton told WJLA, "I'll tell you that I was outraged [at the video]. I was very disappointed at the conduct that I saw on the part of my officers on the videotape."

The U.S. Justice Department is aware of the video and is "looking into it," Weidenfeld said Tuesday.

She said she is surprised officers would take such action knowing that so many people were filming the celebration."

Problem is court always assume the cops are right.
Like I was saying, if not for this video and only the cops words what would have happened?

Kid will get $$$. Department will cover it up or set up a scapegoat.

What happened in the video is simple police brutality.

I would like to give the police the benefit of the doubt but the video evidence is clear.

GG police. Nice fail.

What's up with US police anyway? This stuff seems to happen way too often. It's a piss off to think that if there was no video, they'd be getting away with it, and could pretty much make up any charges they want to that student.

Hopefully they get fired over this, and even put in jail or at least fined.

Well, at least this one is pretty much cut and dry. Theres not really any room to side with the cops
