Iran can't possibly attack Israel by land without total Arab co-operation nor can Israel attack Iran by land. Meanwhile Israel can attack Iran by air but the Israeli air force is too small to do much damage without
using nukes. So both Iran and Israel glare at each other over a vast distance while both sides finance proxy war using terrorism as their means.

The only mislabeling is in thinking either Israel or the USA wears any kind of a halo. Iran however, is not trying to wear any kind of a made in the USA halo, they are merely trying to act in their own self interests. With or without Iranian help, Hamas and Hezbollah will sweep away the corrupt and ineffectual Fatah that delivers nothing, while even more radical terrorist groups will ramp the pressure up.

Sadly, its not a process that will advance either the cause of peace or justice. Sooner or later, Israel must retreat to its pre 1967 borders, because gains of territory by conquest are against the UN charter. Time works against the State of Israel and their military hegemony cannot last long term. Especially as their prime sponsor, the US bankrupts itself. As for Iran, its future lies to markets to the East while it desires a
friendly and stable Iraq. Any new and long term stable mid-east alignment cannot just be based on what is good for just Israel.

Saw this today, from the supreme leader's own mouth.

Khamenei, who has the final say on all state matters, called Hamas's prime minister in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, a "mujahed", or holy warrior, saying "the Iranian nation will never let you be alone."

Khamenei said Israel "has weakened day by day ... Today, officials of the Zionist regime acknowledge that they are moving towards weakness, destruction and defeat," according to state television.

"Definitely, the world of Islam will see that day and hope the existing generation of the Palestinian people will watch the day Palestine is at the disposal of the Palestinian people, in the hands of the landlords," he said at prayers marking the Islamic Eid al-Fitr holiday that ends the holy month of Ramadan.

Anyone still think it's good for Iran to get nukes, in the name of world peace?

So basically Khamenei said that he supports Hamas, which we have always known about. Furthermore Hamas actually gets the majority of its funding from Saudi Arabia, but I digress. Secondly he mentioned how Israel is Iran's enemy, and that they hope Israel is defeated. Not exactly news, and the view shared by quite a few other Middle Eastern Countries. Finally he said he wants Palestine back to the Palestinians, the same view of the majority of Middle Eastern countries.

So pretty much the supreme leader of Iran stated support for policies that the vast majority of the ME also states support for. He didn't say any of the crazy stuff that Ahmadinejad says, etc.

So, what was your point?

i didn't see much in this to support the op's hypothesis, infact it seems pretty mild, that israel is getting weaker and we will eventually so a free palestine. Nothing about my death or the extermination of israel or the denial of the holocaust.

This was my interpretation also. Talk about much ado about nothing. It would be like Bush going on TV and calling for the overthrowing of the Iranian governm....er...nevermind.

WTH happened to my post? I digress.

I agree with Eskimo on this one. The thread title is utter crap and fear mongering. Nowhere does he call for or even promise (unless a prediction now constitutes a promise) that Israel will be destroyed.

He statements were the equivilent of Bush going on national tv and calling Iraq, Iran and North Korea the axis of evil and calling for the citizenry of each to overthrow their governments. The only difference is that Iran hasn't invaded Israel to make its desires and wishes come true.

/edit: found this:

while i'm not a big fan of Iran getting nukes, the thought of it doesn't exactly send me into a blind panic.

Well lets see, Israel's military hegemony has resulted in Israel being to ignore justice and reality for 60 years now. And this has done zero to advance the cause of peace for 60 years.

Now that Hamas is the democratically elected leadership of Gaza, we should ignore democracy? And continue to subsidize Israel so they will never have to go to the negotiating table and get real. And put the interests of 6 million ahead of its neighbors of 200 million? Yes sirree, Israel stole that land fair and square, and subsidize might makes right. Now lets all Palestinians forever eat sand, we cannot possibly allow any fair play for Palestinians. Or to allow the Iranians to develop electrical energy using nuclear reactors.

what fucking universe have you been living in?

He actually has a point and speaks the truth.

AHAHAHAHAHA

Pro-Israeli mouthpieces don't count.

So are you saying the Persian government doesnt want the destruction of Isreal?

behind the scenes, absolutely not.

Oh, so its a public persona they put on to please the people. We should all trust your instinct as to what happens behind the scenes, instead of taking thier word for it.

The Persian youth is turning very liberal. The old timers in the government I wouldnt trust as far as I could throw them.

That's right, Hiroshima and Nagasaki are still smoldering craters, inhabited solely by huge mutated rats and the undead, feasting on the flesh of anyone foolish enough to wander too close..

Haha, I have no point to make, I just thought this sounded funny.

I guess average iranian doesn't want war with Israel. I know that Iran won't nuke israel if it gets nukes. Anybody who thinks differently probably sucks very badly at chess.

Anyone that thinks Isreal is going to allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon sucks very badly at history. Ask Iraq and Syria.
