This is a spin off of the other pizza tipping thread. Yet Another Pizza Delivery Thread....

About two weeks ago my sweet ol' mother ordered a pizza. 20 mins later my mother comes up stairs, wide-eyes, shocked to hell, and is holding the phone out to me. I was worried, obviously, and I was like "What's the problem, who is that?" My mother is very sweet and gets along with everyone and is like "This rude pizza guy on the phone is yelling things at me and I refuse to talk to him" ....

So obviously I pick up the phone and I'm like "This is *** ***. How can I help you?" The guy sounds like 35 and he is very short and rude sounding on the phone... "Where are you?" .. "Well, if this is the pizza delivery guy, you should have our address." .... "Listen smart guy, the lady on the phone couldn't help me before, maybe you know where you live.... where on the street are you, I can't find your street number" ........ obviously I'm about to tip this guys freakin teeth out over the phone ...."First off, don't expect a tip when you get here. Secondly, learn how to speak to a lady and especially learn to speak to my mother. Yes, we still want our food so don't even think about not showing up." .... the guy says "Ahhhh, whatever, I'll find ya."

Now, this would seem like typical behavior to me if I lived in NYC or something, but we live in suburbs of Cincinnati and noone talks like this. My mother was white in the face and I was really hoping the guy would show up and be equally pissy with me in real life because he would have received a a-ripping. He shows up with a scowl on his face, dropped off the pizza and looked at me like I was going to give him something.

Needless to say, I took the pizza and told him I'll be requesting him for all of the free pizzas I'm going to be getting from Papa Johns.... and don't expect a tip on any of the deliveries. He stormed off, and sure enough I got my free pizzas. I didn't request him for delivery however, because I do understand he needs to make a living and I wouldn't want him to spit on my pizzas or anything.

He was a jerk, but what makes you think he didn't spit on your pizza?

I wonder how much soliva you got with that pizza.

In all seriousness though, I hope the guy was fired. Its one thing to be frustrated about not being able to find your house, its another to take it out on a customer.

I hope you didn't eat the pizza. It is almost a sure thing he did something nasty to it.

He could have, but I did actually look at the pizza before I let anyone in the family touch it. Maybe he had a bad night, but if that is how he reacts, he shouldn't be in the pizza delivery business. In my area, we're used to 17 year old that went to one of the high schools in the area delivering the pizza on time and being in a good mood...ya know, talking to you when they show up and we give them a nice tip, give a soft drink, and send them on there way.

He probably wiped his tongue clean all over the cheese.

Extra-gooey wasn't it?

No, but there was this semi-white gooey cheese under one of the pepperonis. It smelled like bleach and tasted like salty snot.

EDIT: That's a swiss type of cheese right?

How did you get free pizza? Did you talk to the manager about the incident?

wtf is with the conception that nyers are rude and that sort of behavior is the norm? i friggin hate that, NYers are people just like anyone else. if anything, its the friggin transplants from other cities who are the a$$holes.

i've been in nyc all my life and nyers are nice people.

Any pizza delivery guy who does this doesn't deserve a tip - that's obvious.

Well of course they are nice to you, because you don't live in another location to experience how much nicer they can be. I've had experience with NY'ers... mostly positive, but a larger proportion have had a general arrogance / mean attitude about them and it makes me sick that live day and and day out with an attitude like that.

yeh but you encounter that where ever you go, not just in ny...every place has their portion of nice people, and arrogant people, i dont think ny has any more than anywhere else.

and like i said before, most of the mean spirited/arrognat people that i have met are transplants from idaho or something....

I still don't get why you just don't order from someplace insted of making a huge stink. Or just hang up the phone originally and order from someplace else

I agree that there is a mix everywhere, but in my personal opinion a lot of NYers have had attitudes with me. Now, I will say that, which is another blanket statement that I should get shot in the face for: 9 out of 10 people from Mass that I have had dealings with I couldn't stand how rude they were.

As an ex delivery driver I hope you didn't eat that pizza....my g/friends used to travel as co-pilot with me and I would have hated to eat those pizzas of people who gave me crap.

Is your street sign/addy hard to see (at night)? If so fix that (call the city or get new numbers/light)....

nothing sux worse than searching 15 minutes for a house on a delivery that should be done in 5 mins.

Just not my style Jezo. I've always been a self-proclaimed hard ass on the phone, and I can't pass up the free items I've received from it... which I think any person that has a customer service issue should be concessioned with. I'm not a confrontational or dramatic person in any area of my life except customer service/when I buy something.

To answer your question: our city paints the street number on the curb. Large black numbers in a white square. ALso, our street number is on a light post in the front yard and we always keep the light post on...so the numbers are visible at night.

And the next thing... I hope you've matured past the stage of "let me get revenge on customers" by doing something sick and nasty with food that people eat. That is fvckng sick and noone deserves that, especially in extreme customer service escalations.

D00d the ol' ladies hot.

Now on to the topic. You didn't handle the situation any better than the driver was handling it. You were being as much of an asshole as he was.
A simple "Hey fella take a pill and I'll get you here" I'm sure would have done it. If your Mom came at you "wide-eyes, shocked to hell, and is holding the phone out to me" like this over a talk with the pizza guy she is either very very very VERY sensitive or had forgotten to take her Zoloft. And besides a simple click of the power button would have solved everything as far as the asshole was concerned.

But to contact the "manager and regional manager" over some guy having a tough time finding your crib and getting frustrated just goes to show you have way to fvcking much time on your hands and that you nor your Mom are people persons. But hey you got freebies right.
