I am trying to find notebooks based on the AMD 690m chip set. So far I have only found two from HP. Heck I can get one for $699, but if I try to custom configure one, and buy minimal ram, etc, the custom configure price starts at $800+. I was also checking out quite a few barebones from MSI etc, but they all seem to be priced around $600 with no processor, ram, or hard drive. Which I can deal with the ram, and hard drive, being missing for that price, but I think you should be able to get have at least a processor for $600.

I pretty much have only a few requirements.
Turion x2 processor
AMD 690m chip set
12"-15" screen size, smaller is more preferable.
Price Below $800 US

Thanks for all your assistance.

I know that your sig says that you are an AMD fanboy, but aside from that do you have any particular reason for wanting that specific chipset?

Plus, it is the latest mobile chip set, and one of the most feature rich. If I buy a laptop brand new, I want the latest chip set. I just want to find another alternative to the HP notebooks I found.

Which are:
6715b $729 15.4"
and
6515b $729 14.1"

Almost identical specs, just different screen sizes. I actually am considering the 14.1" model.

So yeah, I just want an alternative to those systems in and around the same price range. And the only thing I really care about is the processor, chip set, and price.

Right, but the Santa Rosa Chipset from intel is more feature rich... For instance, SR video, the X3100, supports DX10... m690 supports DX9.

However, at the end of the day, it is your money to spend... and I looked around, it is looking like right now, HP is the only manufacturer that is using that chipset.

Thank you TheStu.

I know that currently, and perhaps for a while yet Intel processors are the best choice for lap tops, but I still want an AMD based notebook.
