True, but it doesn't look like the Yanks gave up all that much and they obviously don't have trouble paying his large salary.

There just aren't any good pitchers available that wouldn't require giving up major prospects for.
 
they didnt get lieber in the deal like was rumored?

the last thing they need is more offense 😕 especially with sheffield coming back soon
 
Well Abreu gives them a RF for a couple of years if anything. Sheffield is done as a Yankee after the season. I don't understand why they did this move as Cabrera has done a really great job for the Yanks and I figure he deserves his everyday starts. Cory Lidle is ok but is not THAT much better than Ponson or Jaret Wright.
 
Funny, you think they'd get a better SP after randy got spanked yesterday, not to mention their 4th and 5th SPs are trash. They're gonna get spanked in the 1st round.
 
Meh, as a Phillies/Yankees fan this trade really doesn't matter to me. I used to really like Abreu, but he's not the player he used to be. As long as Burrell and Howard stay with the Phils, I'll be happy. Still, the Phils suck this year. 🙁

The Yankees aren't doing as good as they could be, either. Darn Red Sox's in first place :disgust:

The only real quality SP that might be on the market is Zito, and he would cost the team some real quality prospects, players that Cashman does not want to trade.
