Talk all you want about the $$$, but at the end of the day any sports fan would LOVE to have GS as their teams owner.

He does what other owners dont. Put money BACK into the team instead of INTO his pocket. He isnt breaking any rules, and there are other owners with more money than George and the same TV contracts and same great fans, who decide instead to profit rather than win. The money argument is old, and its tired.

That l/u is sick though. Cano was 3rd in the batting title race and batting 9th!!! YIKES

Giambi. Crappy average and terrible first baseman. There are at least 15 1st basemen the Yanks would rather have. They just can't get rid of him because nobody else will be stupid enough to take him off their hands.

You don't think Steinbrenner makes money? It's just the monster of the New York City market that generates so much revenue that he can both make and spend money. The Yankees have their own network, for goodness sakes.

Um...no one has the same TV contract as George. The only way to fix baseball is a salary cap and revenue sharing.

It's not that easy. It needs to be approved by the players union. Obviously the players would be adamantly against such a cap. See the 1994 baseball strike.

Why should steinbrenner cut back? He isnt breaking any rules. Steinbrenner is supposed to feel pity for the Royals, so say "hey we wont sign good players this year so you guys have a chance" thats complete BS. It is a business. You think Walmart would purposely stop making money so Kmart can do better???? NO

And for the post about them having their own tv network.

The Red Sox have their own TV network.
The Mets have their own TV network.
I am sure there are some other teams that also do.

And btw, the AROD contract had nothing to do with George or the Yankees. Get your facts straight.
