This is the one I am looking at, is it any good?

I am a writer, and want to hear some real world experience with this particular netbook. I will only use it to surf a bit, listen to some music (via headphones of coarse), and write a lot. These things seem perfect for my needs. So tell me your story.

Also, how is battery life with the 6-cell battery in the real world? I also fly from Tampa to San Diego a couple of times a year, and I would like to know if this battery will at least last most of that trip. If I need to turn it off and talk to the girl, that's OK, but I like to write on the plane.

my suggestion would be to go to a store and test one out. some people find the small keyboard too..well.. small. i'd think that would be important for someone who does a lot of typing

yeah i haven't been in BB in a while, that's a good idea. that would probably be the biggest drawback. (for me anyway, i do have slight fingers though.)

I also like the Eee 904HA as it appears to have a superior keyboard/trackpad. And after reading a few threads, it's apparently fairly popular with it's users.

best keyboard probably currently belongs to the samsung nc10. there are some new models coming out soon.. so who knows if that will change.
see my supermeganetbook thread for more info Text (yes that was a shameless plug heh)

A 6-cell battery should last for a little more than 4 hours of light useage (with wifi on). If you're flying, you can turn the wifi off and that should give you around 4.5 hours of battery time.

Asus EEE 1000HA is a much better netbook than the Acer you have linked.

It also has a 6-cell battery,a 160gb hard drive and a 10" screen.

Netbooks with 10" screens have better keyboards.

EwJ, I am considering getting a Wind or Eee 1000HA now due to keyboard size. The prob with the wind is having to pick up a 6 cell battery later to keep it in my price range. However that Asus fits my needs without any followup.

I have that very Netbook and I am VERY happy with it. The keyboard is very good despite people saying otherwise in this thread.

The Aspire One with a 10" screen is currently up for pre-order on Amazon. You might want to look into that. Or you could possibly hang on for a bit and wait for Dell's Mini 10 to come out, whenever that may be.
