YANCT: Yet another new car thread: just bought a 2004 Accord

Invoice is $18,093 before destination. Price I paid including destination is $18,165. ($418 under invoice) Out the door price is $19,550.00, financed over 36 months for 1.9% APR.

It's a 2004 Accord LX sedan, automatic. Not a lot of bells and whistles but other than the audio system, I could care less. Anyway, I've had my eye on this car for months. It feels and drives very nice. I have to admit, it's not as smooth as it could be - Honda dropped the ball on the smoothness part, especially in comparison to the Camry - the Camry was noticeably smoother, but everything else about the Accord is 100000x better than the Camry. Plenty of acceleration, handles like it's on rails (to me anyway), decent sound system. (I'm probably going to replace the speakers today, my first mod for the car) The one thing I really like about it is the fact that it's very roomy - dwarfs my old Accord. Ergonomics in the interior are some of the best I've ever used. Quality of the dash materials is very good.

I'm just super excited right now, my first new car. It wasn't had for a loss leader price or anything but I don't mind paying more for the exact car I want than getting stuck with some odd color or whatnot.
 
36 months? Those payments must be substantial, but if you took a 3 year term, I'm sure you thought ahead and will be able to afford it. Congrats on the new car, I too hope that I can pay out 20k in 3 years, but I'm looking more (read: will be forced to look) for 5 or 6 when I get my first new car 😀
 
Nice! Let the upgrades stop at the speakers before someone says the 'r' word.

So your palms are sweaty huh? I havent had that feeling since my first (and only) Porsche.

$429 per month. Put $4550 down to finance a flat $15,000. That's more than one paycheck when I'm not working full time at my job but I don't mind. I also have some extra savings in my account to fallback on just in case.

The coupe is ugly and too small for my tastes. I like big cars - the other one I was considering was the 04 F150. Plus insurance for the 2 door coupe is considered a sports car, even though it's not. Might as well buy a real sports car than an Accord if you're going to be paying out the arse for it.
 
Is your Honda dealer equally willing to go 418 below invoice for an '04 s2k?....if so, i'm flying down to Texas.
 
that'll be a nice car. the smoothness you get with the camry comes at a high driver communication cost. the accord will always be the best balance between driver's car and luxury. (in this price range anyway)

I got my V6 wheels at the v6p.net FS/FT in case you want alloys.

If you replace your speakers, let me know what you find, I might get new speakers if it's easy and the stock ones are crappy enough. 😀

I equate that to numbness. Camry?s are nice but dead feeling when it comes to driver?s feedback.

Like I tell everyone, you can't go wrong with an Accord.

I've been in several Accords from 2000-2004. I don't notice much difference between the current generation (2003-2004) and the previous (1996-2002) other than there is less wind noise in the current. I think that Honda thickened the glass slightly and changed the door seal design.

Enjoy that storage bin ahead of the gear shift! My company makes that for Honda. 🙂

I was planning on taking out the 6x9's out of my current car - I looked underneath and found out it uses a special plug of sorts :| I'll probably have to order one of those before I swap them out. Front speakers - probably just order a decent component set. I'm fine with the hubcabs and stuff - not too big an issue with me.

Nice car RB, I agree with getting the Sedan, 2 doors are worthless unless it's just a weekend sportscar.

u overpaid buddy, my parents bought this car back in july for 18k out the door with 2 years of free oil change, it's a nice car.

How did he overpay? He paid under invoice by a substantial amount. BTW, that's a nice looking car Melvin. Hope you enjoy it. :beer:

Trust me others have tried coming to Oregon because of our loss leader cars but there's one big catch.

When you register the car in your state you're hit with the registration fees and taxes.

Unless the state you're travelling to is CLOSE and you save A LOT ($2k or more under invoice) it just isn't worth it.
