YAMT: movies are all about the expectiations we hold

i must say that when i left matrix reloaded, i felt a little "empty". i couldn't describe it, but i just didn't get the same sensation that i did after watching the matrix. and i agreed w/ all the criticism - music sucked, fight scenes were forced, rave scene was uneccessary.......etc.

so i decided to go watch it again today, but only to see if i could pick up on more details and possibily figure things out a little better. i entered the theater not expecting anything other than gaining a better understanding of the movie. then, with my mind clear and void of expectiations i felt the magic again. i was sitting in the theater, as floored by reloaded as i had been when i watched the original matrix. this second time, i enjoyed every single aspect of the movie. the fight scenes flowed as beautifully as they did in the first movie, the music got my heart racing, and yes....i even enjoyed the rave scene.

if you're a matrix fan and felt a little dissappointed by reloaded, do yourself a favor and watch it again - but go into the theater with a clear head and no bloated expectiations. you'll feel it again, i promise.

That's how I went in to the theater last night (1st viewing). Since I know there's a 3rd Matrix movie out this Nov., I knew it wasn't going to be solved tonight but that I might learn more about the workings and get clued in to how it will be destroyed, if it is to be.

I really enjoyed the film and felt it equal or perhaps better than the original.

conjur, would you mind editing your post to not include spoilers? i would rather not have to right "spoilers" in my topic subject. to answer your concern though, i think that there will be alot of zion action in revolutions. remember the trailer? i can't wait to see the mechwarriors in action!!!!!!

Everyone has an opinion about the matrix 2.
"Mixed reviews" is the lingo usually used to describe that.

yes, the do. but i'm just encouraging those people that enjoyed the original matrix and felt dissappointed about the second one, to go watch it again. only this time with a clear head.

this is a thinking mans movie. unfortunately a lot of movie goers don't like to think when watching a movie. when i saw it the second time, i was totally floored.

In 2 weeks, after seeing it each night, you'll be going to the theater all dressed up. Neo, Morpheus, an Agent, or other, you'll be hooked and will be considered a dweeb by all! 🙂

Hmm.. i dunno about the thinking mans movie.. it is "complex"... but does it really inspire greatness or intelligence?

let's just say i've been thinking about the movie for the past couple of nights. no other movie has ever had me thinking about why certain things happen, etc.

i don't think that he wanted to go so far as to claim that the movie inspired greatness. basically he's saying that it's not an X2. i.e. st@b, kick, throw, levitate, [brief humor], etc. etc. don't get me wrong, i loved x2 - great movie. it's the essence of what entertainment should be. but it didn't make you think, and occasionally it's good to have a movie like this. the problem is that when people don't understand a movie, they tend to like it much less than when it's straight forward. reloaded makes you think - and more so than any other movie since it ends in a cliff hanger. in addition to interpreting the movie, people are trying to make predictions about certain aspects of it.

btw linux, i'm glad someone else decided to watch it again and enjoyed it as much as i did. now, i actually like reloaded better than the original matrix.

Reloaded was such a different movie than the original that i cannot say that one was better than the other. A lot of people don't understand the long Rave scene, but after watching it a second time, i now understand why they did it.

Oh, and it took me three viewings to fully appreciate the original Matrix.🙂

yeah, but whats the point about thinking about the matrix? go be a dectective if you want to figure out things 😛 Thats at least useful

Interpretations suck!

I too felt some emptyness when i finished watching Reloaded. It's like most success movies where the first part is golden, but then each successive movie gets watered down to cash in on its mass appeal.

The W Brothers probably felt some pressure from the studio to turn this into a money maker to counter the tremondous cost of making it. Hence we see a lot of famous celebs added to the cast at the expense of throwing a bunch of shallow and underdeveloped characters. The product placements (could they possibly write "Ducati" any bigger on the side of Trinity's motorcycle!?). The stupid MTV rave scene (well, they gotta give Oakenfold a chance to spin his cheesy trance music - those Fast and Furious teeny boppers would love that).

Anyways, the story is still there, but Reloaded got weighted down by a lot of filler that would appeal to Joe Six Pack. It's a shame that the Matrix franchise is following in the path of the Starwars prequels.

i can't wait to see that gatekeeper mech rock the sentinels world

but i'm dreading finding out that the whole story is all one big "matrix" or some other corny ending

I actually agree with jooksing, without being so jaded.

As for the gatekeeper mech.. anyone else get pissed off when it twirled its guns? Weapons are NOT made to be flashy. Just kill.

Remember that things in movies fight without much strategy.. the; mech will do ok.

Just look at neo's fight with the frenchmen's thugs. Why the hell didn't he just cut em all to begin with. I woulda been way more happy with a 3 second bloody scene that that goofy crap.

well maybe because of opportunity. when you have 5 guys lunging at you, you might have to block incoming blows before you're able to go on the offensive yourself. you can strike your opponent w/ the precision necessary to kill them, when you can do it w/o becoming vulrnerable to attack urself.
