I was just coming to post this story but you beat me to it. Seems at though participants aren't cooperating with the police.

As loose as the laws are for firearms in Texas you'd think there'd be a lot of "good guys" carrying at the event.

Oh well, I guess the answer is, of course...............

700 people in a venue? Christ that places had to be packed to the brim - that definitely wasn't any kind of school sponsored event because I guarantee that isn't up to fire codes and such.

And to make it even worse, a candlelight vigil was held for two of the people killed, and gunfire broke out at that. No humans were injured, but several vehicles died or were wounded. And, apparently, people still aren't cooperating with the police.

Are there gangs on campus now? All this seems like gangsta retribution.

That place is pretty huge, it is intended for large parties. The building is just a small part of the venue, most of the party would be on the outside patio area which is several acres of space. I bet it was not over capacity.
But either way you are right, A&M at Commerce is saying that it was not an officially sponsored event.
