If I've heard correctly, "50 Cent" got his name from a half-dollar bet between Dr. Dre and Eminem on whether they could literally take some no-name and turn him into a star. The beginning and end of the "In THe Club" video kinda reinforce that notion. If anything, I'll agree that the beats can be rather addictive. ("P.I.M.P." is the current track of choice here in D.C.)

But, if you want to be caught totally off-guard, listen to some of the one-liners Ludacris drops in his many guest appearances. Sometimes, you will just start laughing in disbelief. "I can't believe he just sad that in a rap song!"

If you listen to his interview on raptism he says the name 50 cent is a metaphor for change, I guess from being a street thug to legit rapper. Or something like that.

50 cent has been around long before dre and eminem got togather, and so has his name. Ive read in a couple articles it has something to do with his crack dealing days and "50 cent" was the name of some legendary crack dealer.

Certain people in this thread like Linkin Park, so I think that should nullify their ability to criticize music, period.

i agree with the whole monotone thing. booo to that. some of his songs arent so monotonish though.

he would be dead if gangsters could shoot... instead of driving by with the gun hanging out sideways and spraying.

You do realize that when he was shot 9 times, he got shot in the mouth, which has something to do with why he can't talk.

I like his song "in da club," but besides that I dun like much else.

So, because he got shot, we should listen to his music, whether it sucks or not?

EDIT: I think his problems with talking may have something to do with sampling his own product, and I dont mean his "music" when I say "product"

ok...when did AunixM3 say that because he got shot that you should listen to him? All that was stated was the reason he speaks in a monotonic voice. you put words into his mouth. thats whats wrong with ATOT's arguement threads. and also, prove that 50 cent is on any kind of drug...?
