Yamaha Upgrade Issues

I'm trying to replace my old Yamaha RX 979 receiver connected to a Elan Z Series Amp and Sonance channel selector. I'm replacing the receiver with a Yamaha RX A680 and not getting any sound. Could it be the amp is analog and the new receiver is digital?
