Good price drop. End of last month it was priced at $199.99 - $30 rebate = $169.99!

Do not forget to use $10 off coupon to get it for $89.99 w/ Free Shipping :)

I used to have a Rio Volt, but it was stolen in a house burglary several months ago. Been waiting on a good price before replacing it with their new top-of-the-line model, but I think having a portable burner on top of a player is way cool...and the Spyder is much less expensive, too. I think I can sacrifice the ID3 tags for the capability to burn, heck, I can only fit seven albums worth of MP3s on a CDR anyway. So I ordered one. Nice post, Teilarj

Good deal. Maybe it's time for me to dump my Sony USB CDRW which can only manage 2X without underrunning. :disgust:

Just be aware, that this unit is 5.25x7.25x1.15 inches. I don't know how that compares to your riovolt.
The unit also has a shipping weight of 3lbs.

I ordered the drive. Now looking for a USB2 adapter.

Saw this USB 2.0 PCI CARD WITH 4 EXTERNAL PORTS & 1 internal for $30.56 at Buy.com.

Text Is this any good??

What other choices are there??

I think most of the people are buying this for their laptops, me too. The problem is I've not seen any laptops featuring USB2.0 yet. Maybe we need to buy a new laptop next year to take the full advantage of this driver. I'm also tempted to buy a Powerbook G4, too

Update: Sry, just saw the Compaq Presario 2800 featured USB2.0. BTW, that's a nice laptop for upgrade.:)

Amazon increased the price to $160. Seems they adjust price based on the demand. :disgust:

Great CDRW. I received it today. It's even smaller than I originally thought. Great software included. Also include a Rebate form to get a 4 port USB2.0 PC card at only $26.95 (unfortunately it expired on 5/31/02). I think it still worth at $130, considering USB2.0 notebook are out in the marcket.

Funny; I bought my Sony Digital Relay cdr/mp3 player 6 months ago and it was only $250; granted, it is USB 1.1 only, but even when it retailed initially it was below $400 retail. The Digital Relay is about the same size, perhaps a touch bigger, and it comes with a little display that shows ID3 tags. Weird that they couldn't include that.
