Hey "Big Brother" mod:

- I didn't post negative comments about the drive, I actually said it was a great drive.

- I did not post negative comments about anyone else in the thread, although I was called a "putz" so maybe apply that rule to someone else.

- I did not flame.

- The worst you can say is I made a lighthearted joke (maybe that fits the "trivial" bill, although how many threads become nothing but a running joke here, that's part of what makes it fun to read).

Again I say, what's wrong with joking? I just said how none of our wives/girlfriends would ever understand what is cool about the t@2 feature, and how any of us could justify buying yet *another* burner just because this one will write your name on the disc. It was meant to be a funny line, that's it. The mods here can chill out and quit being Nazis, or read the entire thread next time to get the full context. Or ban me if I've done something so horrible here that I simply can't be allowed to contribute to AnandTech forums any longer.

Anyone else run into the problem I'm having?
I bought one from Yamaha Shop Online, after being told by the rebate company that the rebate was valid for the refurbished drive and the Yamaha Shop Online rep I ordered the drive from that it came in a retail box (just like you'd see in Best Buy) and that it was elligable for the rebate. When I received the drive it didn't have teh necessary proof of purchases (came in a brown box) and now Yamaha is telling me tough.

Same here. I don't really have the time nor desire to fight to get the rebate to work, and I am plenty happy with getting the drive for $99 anyway (Yamaha's site now lists them at $129.99 I believe) so if you find a way to get them to honor the rebate, please let us know.

Well, I called Yamaha Shop Online, ultimately had a conversation with a supervisor who is supposed to be getting me a $30 credit within the next 4-7 business days. We'll see if it actually happens.
If they come through with their promise, I'll be happy. I was just really aggrivated as I would not have purchased this drive for $100-I SPECIFICALLY double-checked with both the rebate company and sales rep and both told me the rebate was valid, so I ordered.
