I have a friend looking at getting a new laptop, and since I operate in the desktop space, I really have little idea of what's good out there.
Price: < $1000
Usage: school work, storing photos (and presumably some photo editing)
SSD (or SSD boot) strongly preferred.
Gaming capability is a plus but not a requirement.
I know it's a broad field. Honestly I thought maybe a surface pro or the like would work well. I also wouldn't hesitate to recommend a macbook, but the lack of ports is BS in my opinion. I figure having ports will be needed for external hard drives as either additional storage or backup.
Help me, oh great AT laptop knowers!
