Yakima or Thule rack for my car?

Price difference is negligible as they both are about 20% off on various sites. Any preference? Only looking at the fixed point setups right now.

I have a Thule set-up and would recommend a Yakima.

Yakima is based in the US and I like their rounded cross bars for handling different roof lines and attachments.

I had a Yakima set-up that rusted so quickly that I would recommend Thule.

I have a neighbor who I think just bought a rack to look like a douche, I have never seen a bike on it.

Neither one really fit my car well but the Yakima fit better than the Thule so that's the one I have. I have a Thule bike tray for my Yakima rack though because I thought that tray was better/more secure than the Yakima one when I bought it.

It's really a toss-up. I have a Thule bike rack for the back of my SUV (Don't hate Jules 😛 ) that hasn't rusted yet and it's one of the older models. I do like the the Yakima crossbars and Powderhounds though. Really, it's just personal choice.

I like Thule better, but that is just me.

Also look at Inno rack...they are usually cheaper than both

The Yakima round crossbars are more forgiving to set up in some applications, but they sure do rust . . . I don't have any firsthand experience with Thule.

I had a Thule bike rack that I sold when I stopped mtn biking, and now have an Inno rack cuz I was cheap & have factory crossbars on the car, so I just put it on & off when actually heading out to snowboard, so not too concerned on its longevity as its only on the car for a few days at a time, then cleaned & stored
Cant say I've ever had any major problems with any of them or in using friends that had either
The only problem a friend ever had was a lock cylinder that wouldn't lock after some use, & Thule sent him a new one, so can't complain on that
