Er, thanks for your valuable post. Why is it that some people can't conceive of any discussion without turning it into a political debate? The idea that this case in any way implicates "liberal morals" is sheer fantasy.

I was attacked by a pitbull when I was 7.
Ripped a whole in my arm down to my bone. Scarred up my arms a bunch.
It jumped the fence and tackled my off my bike. It went directly for my face, which I blocked by my right arm.
Luckily the owners of the dog came out and beat/dragged the dog off of me.

They had 2 or 3 other pitbulls in the backyard that were going nuts. I guess I'm lucky only one jumped the fence and decided it was a good idea to kill me.

I have a pitbull, and it's a friendly dog. Why? Because I've had it since it was born, and it's been exposed to a large variety of people and things since that time, and I've treated and trained it well.

I acknowledge that Pitt bulls, more than any other breed of dog, have a genetic predisposition for violence, lockjaw being a perfect example. TRAINING AND A GOOD, LOVING ENVIRONMENT, however, are capable of eliminating almost all inherent agression though--my dog is living proof.

Pit Bulls get a bad rap because they are the breed of choice for the assholes that raise animals to fight. Not all Pitt Bulls are evil.

My neighbor has a Rottweiler that barks and barks and barks and scares my eight-year-old son.

Most people keep their hammer in a toolbox; I keep mine beside the front door, at arms reach in case I need it while running out to stave off a four-legged fvcker.

atleast the kid died. others aren't so lucky. one kid in oakland recently survived thanks to medical science. not much of a life left though, face torn off, limbs in tatters, like one of those severe burn victims, he is pretty much destroyed for life.

its funny you conservatives get erections when the fcc starts regulating people out of business because of supposed horrible dangerous "indecent" words, yet regulating dogs that are genetically predisposed to violence or weapons.. oh no, thats uncalled for!

Neighbours should be definitely be charged.

I don't care how scared you are of dogs, but you gotta do something!!!!!!

Kick them, grab a piece of steak from the kitchen, do something for crying out loud.

You cannot charge the neighbours for inaction. An individual is free to do anything he or she chooses, unless specifically prohibited by law. That means one may violate moral and ethical standards but not held liable by legal obligations as long as he or she doesnt violate any law.

Yes the neighbors coulda physically helped, because that seems to be the moral thing to do, but legally, he or she does not have to do anything. You have no cause of action to sue the neighbors, unless somehow the state has a law that criminalizes inaction. Even if they did, it is unclear if that is constitutional under the intrerpretations of natural laws in the constitution.

u expect a crackhead to able to properly train a pitbull ... no, wait ... 4 pitbulls?

I love pitbulls, but most of the ones that I've come across are hard to train. IMHO, licenses or atleast mandatory dog training classes should be required for people who to own pitbulls, rotts, etc.

What fscking idiots the neighbors are... if I had seen dogs mauling some kid I would have grabbed a blunt object and ran over to start beating off the dogs.

:| That has to be one of the worst possible ways for a child to die. Being torn apart, limb from limb.

I hope the owner of those dogs rots in hell.

Same thing happened down the street from me, actually, but fortunately the child was not killed, and there were 2 rottweilers. There were some roofers on the house near where it happened, and they ran over to the incident and beat the dogs with claw hammers. Unfortunately, the dogs survived. The kid was hospitalized and is now physically fine, but has a lifelong fear of rottweilers. There was/is a legal battle with the owner.
