YAJAT: Yet Another Job Application Thread

depends. Were you fired for using a company ladder to save a kitten? or did you steal everything but the cash reigster?

Do you have a half way between for that?

you used a kitten to save a comapny cash register?

yuck yuck yuck. Remember folks, the 1pm show is completely different than the 12pm show. 🙂

you were working too many hours and doing such a good job that you were making the other workers look bad.

You disagreed with the mandatory 2 hour paid lunch break at your previous company. You wanted to work straight through w/o interruptions.

Previous boss came on to you.

Whatever you do, don't tell the truth. They don't need to know that you brought a gun to work and started waving it around threating to kill the next person who asked if you've got a case of the Mondays.

I'm not looking to get out of telling the truth... I'm just trying to find a better way of getting it across then being fired.

umm... I feel you need to tell the truth..

Gotta remember.. most employment appications require you to fill out your previous employers.. and other references..

If you lie, they'll just find out the truth in the long run.. Some employers actually do contact previous supervisors , employers, references, etc..

It would be to your best interests to tell the truth.. but there are many ways to put it in other words besides, "I got fired"

Well that's what I'm looking for... another way that doesn't look so horrible.

nowadays employers wont say much about past employee's for fear of a lawsuit. The most you can get out of them is that you worked there, and thats it.

I just don't want it to turn out like my computer assisted Lowe's application. It asked if you had been discharged from a job and then asked if you had taken supplies or money that didn't belong to you from a company. The options for that were like $0, $1-$5, $5-$9, $10+, and I think there was a response for not sure. After selecting that I was discharged from a company and the wide open area for $10+, it said they didn't have a job for me but I'd be contacted. I can understand some lockdown, but this was rediculous. What if the amount was like $10.01? All I know is not having a job sucks and I hate myself for screwing up every day.

when I got let go, I use what they wrote on my termination papers... "Layoff Due To Business Conditions"..

That is my case though.. i was really never technically "fired"... everybody still has good things to say about me.. there were just uncontrollable circumstances that came about for my layoff..
