Its Option B. In my experience, UPS will store your package for no particular reason where-as FedEx seems to push them out the door...

I'm waiting on a bunch of packages that are "out for delivery" since 6am. Its possible that I missed them, but dont they leave something on your door or something? Whats the latest they come by? Its 5:30 here...

Problem is that they don't want you to get the package just as fast as if you would have used a more expensive service... then no one would ever use the more expensive service.

Makes sense from a business standpoint, although it's extremely annoying since you can track the shipment online so easily.

It's just more ghey cuz I could ship something to someone local via ground, and they'd take 2-3 days to deliver it just becuz it was shipped ground. Kevin is right about UPS vs Fedex. In all my experience with shippers, UPS will deliberately "sit" on a package cuz of the service. Where fedex will push it out the door. I can ship something to cali via fedex ground and it'll be there in 2 days.....where as ups will take 5 just cuz they can. Oh well, wtf can ya do about it? So much for efficiency....

Mcveigh's sig says it best....

Better example is if I were to ship a package via Fedex to mike2fix who is about an 60 minute drive away. If I shipped it priority overnight, he'd get it tomorrow by 10:30am. If I shipped ground, he'd get it tomorrow by 5:30. UPS, he wouldn't see it till wednesday. UPS GHEY!

its ground... why do you expect 2 day service when you pay for 4 to 5 day service?

thats like buying a coach ticket and then bitching when you don't get bumped up to first class

Because it took a day for it to get frome OR to WA they just sat on it. Fedex doesn't do that, and they're cheaper. USPS doesn't even do that. It's like paying for a coach ticket, and even tho the plane only has all first class seats, they make you sit on a stool. As stated up above, UPS is the only shyt shipping company that people have had them sit on packages. WTF is the point in sending something overnight USPS to my parents if I can get it to them in the same timeframe by sticking a stamp on it? My mother in law just sent my wife 2 packages from hawaii on the same day. 1 Priority, the other parcel post. Guess what? They came the same day. It doesn't seem at all outrageous to you that a package sat in the same place for over 63 hours, when both it's final distribution hub AND delivery location were less than an hour away? Oh, and when called to ask if it can be held for pickup, being told no because it's still "in transit".

Let me see--

Truck arrived on Saturday morning - which in most cases, other then Paid up Saturday delivery, is a day UPS is closed. They scan the truck "MANIFEST" which logs the entire contents as arrived.

Sunday - They are closed and not working. Your package is still on the truck because they don't unload ground on the weekends.

Monday - They unload the trailer - sort the package and route it to Redmond - too late to make the delivery truck since it was loaded and gone while they were still unloading and routing your package in Seattle.

Tuesday- The package should be on the delivery truck.

Bottom line:

You want it cheap.
You want it fast.
You want it right.

Pick 2 of the above

When I ship, I want it fast and right. I unfortunately didn't ship this package. I just think it's funny, albeit a bit frustrating. Took 4 hours to get from Portland to Seattle, then 63 hours (11 hours not counting the w/e) to get from Seattle to Redmond.

Lucky for me, Fedex does it Fast(er), Cheap(er), and Right!
