Was doing one of my rotations at an unnamed psychiatric hospital in an unnamed unit. When a patient started to get very agitated and hostile. He was cussing telling us to F-off, saying he is gunna snap peoples necks etc.... He started to pickup a table to throw at a Volunteer, so i stopped grabbed onto the table, and said "Please calm down" halfway through the sentance while my mouth was open he spit violently all over my face and mouth. He then proceeded to throw chairs into the computers on the unit, knocking off a monitor, and trying to attack someone. The charge nurse called a code green (which is an All Available staff call for assistance). We finally restrained him and injected him with Haloperidol.

Suffice to say it felt vile getting spit on. After my time was up i went home took a shower and rinsed with half water half rubbing alcohol. However, right after the incident I was able to rinse my face.

Yuck

See? This is a PERFECT example of why I would not be able to work in a profession like this. Once he spit on me, I would have had to just throttle the hell out of him....
