Just want to verify. My gf from south korea wants to come to U.S as an international Grad students. Now, one of the requirements to getting the Visa is to show that she have enough finances to go to school. I went to my international student services offices, and the lady told me an estimated amount.

My gf, told me yesterday, that besides showing the $$ on the financial statement, she also needs to show that the person who supports her(maybe her parents) have a steady income job. The internaional office I went to said they know nothing about that, and that should not be one of the requirement.

my gf, who has study abroad before, said that they really do require that.......

so i'll let atot be tie-breaker.

Is a bank statement w/ enough funding be enough to bring her to school?

Working for G'v't in the UK I would like to see some proof that the bank statement belongs to said person (and that they still have the funds in the account).

Don't we all just love red tape

well, I mean, ofcouse they are gonna bring an official bank statement, and proper proof of I.D. but my gf said that besides that, the bank statement of the person also must show that she currently has a source of steady income on top of that(I guess maybe, just in case the money goes somewhere).

so just wondering.

I think I would have EVERYTHING possible that I might need to prove whatever they may ask. I've seen too many uppity bureaucrats pull sh*t out of their ass at the last minute to try to cause problems. I've never seen anyone have too much proof...

I worked in Admissions @ UCLA Extension before and one of the requirements was a bank statement for an F-1 Visa to be issued, there was no proof of a job required as long as the amount asked for in the bank statement was there. Perhaps the school she's applying for has different requirements. I'd say check with the school, but I'm pretty sure all regulations we followed were standardized.

i would think that they would need a proof of steady source of income if they did not have all of the required funds. otherwise, i see no reason to show it, especially if the office says you dont.
