Yahoo widgets

I recently discovered yahoo widgets. Meaning I recently began using the program. Now, assuming that the widgets are basically only useful if they are constantly running. The question of : do they require alot of memory usage to run all the time, comes to mind.

Will the widgets slow my system down and steal performance from other tasks?

Each widget is an individual program and vary greatly in the memory they take up. I've only got two or three running and they take up about 30mbs total, which I suppose is not much in this day and age. One thing that really bugs me is that the dock itself takes 10-20 seconds to respond each time.

Widgets don't take much CPU at all unless they are poorly written. As the other reply noted, they each run in a separate process, so four or five widgets == 50+ megs of ram. Not a big deal for me.
