Yahoo to up mail space to 1Gig!!

Coming soon! 1GB of storage, free to all users.

There's more in store with Yahoo! Mail. By early May, all free Yahoo! Mail users will receive an email storage increase to a whopping 1GB. That's enough space to keep thousands and thousands of emails -- so you'll never have to delete those important messages again!

can you imagine multiple people, possibly simultaneously hitting GMail's servers with 1GB upload streams ? No thanks. There's sites like yousendit.com.

Ok at soe point this is a total waste of space.

when they took spam out of the quota that was fine for me

This is nice to have, but it isn't all that useful. I was only using 6% of the old limit (and I never bother deleting ANYTHING anymore), and now I suddenly have 10 times more space. At the rate I'm going, my inbox might hit a Gig by 2505, since it seems to increase by only 2 MB a year 🙂

How do these yousendit.com guys stay in business? They have no ads, have no charge for the service, and probably use TONS of bandwidth moving these big files around.

same here - 1GB now. Too bad I can't get into it now that I have to disable Javascript in Firefox. :|

Yeah...let me know when yahoo tones down the adverts like google has done, and maybe implement IMAP support, and I MAY be interested. It's funny, with gmail I don't even want IMAP because the interface is so slick and the search is just perfect.

They announced they'd be doing this awhile back (which is what caused Google to up theirs even more for bragging rights.)

Good to have, but I'll never even come close to using all the space I have now.
