Yahoo redirecting

I've had trouble with Yahoo for a while where if I log-in it takes me away from the standard yahoo page and takes me to my.yahoo.com. Is there anyway I can stop it from redirecting me to the new page? I asked 3 times on yahoo! answers and got not answers :/

ALSO, I have program that opens up an extremely shady website from time to time, an advertising thing. Is there anyway I can stop the program from opening up the site, like block it in firefox or something? Thanks.

If you know the URL, you could add an entry to your hosts file:

127.0.0.1 shadywebsite.com

I'd be very suspicious of any program (regardless of how useful I might otherwise find it) that randomly connected to any website, without my explicit permission or a program setting that allows me to disable that behavior. I'd be thinking malware; as in potentially unwanted program (PUP).

Cool thanks, hopefully it won't pop up again. It's in my hosts file now but i can still connect to the site...so I don't know if it's working or not.

Any ideas on the yahoo redirect BS or must I give in?!

It sucks but it's the only program of it's kind and it works damn well, just run by a shady Chinese company 😛 -http://www.motioninjoy.com/ It's a program so you can use your PS3 controller on your PC via standard USB connection or bluetooth and allows full customization. Can also fool programs into thinking it's an Xbox 360 controller. Also people have had a ton of trouble trying to uninstall the program and drivers it leaves behind. O dear. Shady program is shady.

Also the shady website it opens up is actually pretty funny, bad translations ahoy! Here's a picture of the site so I don't link you to the actual site: Link
