yahoo mail now using character string verification?!?!

so in order to fight spam, yahoo is making me verify a character string before my emails are sent out. how counterproductive. all the more reason to migrate to gmail.

edit: so i typed out a long email to my brother and guess what? i failed the gay sh!t verification (i can say that cause my brother's gay) and it did not save my email nor would i be able to send again until i passed it. so i am officially offing my yahoo account. let's get some AT effect here. don't be the next one who has your entire email deleted because you failed to type in the correct string, which is not foolproof due to the weird squiggly's they put in.

lol, i gotta try that out

edit: i got no such window... maybe your email address was targeted or something? or maybe they're trying it out on random members?

I haven't had this - but it is a good idea. I've gotten about 80 spam emails with a 52kb zip file attached since I deleted my bulk mail last night.

Bah. I have a yahoo account that I use just for giving out when I register places and letting it get bombarded with spam. Still use it from time to time though--if this starts happening to me it will be completely relegated to a spam recipient account and my gmail will become my primary and only real email address.

I've had it happen VERY few times over the years. Never consistent, or any certain pattern either.

Doesn't bother me for the few times that it made me do it.

fs5, after clicking no, i get:
http://cpcan2h201:18180/transparent.gif

maybe its my firewall at work

it takes me to here:
http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/mail/...%2Fhelp%2Fus%2Fmail%2Fmail%2D03%2Ehtml

not sure if it's a cookied link, which is why I went with the method in my previous post.
edit: also be sure NOT to select comments as the "problem". If their support is like any other support, it will simply be categorized as a comment and never read.

their loss and gmail's gain.

I got that message a few times, but I only use my Yahoomail account to test my mail server, so no big deal.

I still have yet to see this in action... despite using it for as long as I've had Internet.

I don't care. My Yahoo mail account is my spam account for when I have to register for something online. I never use it to send e-mail anyway.
