Yahoo is Spaming you...... Sneaky Devils

I've just been alerted by a friend that Yahoo have just made a sneaky
change to everybody's 'Marketing Preferences'. The result of which
will be a load of spam. I checked and sure enough, they had changed
ALL of my *No's* to *Yes!* So, I've just been in and changed back
what they've done so that I won't be receiving their ads!

Here's what you need to do:
Go to My Groups and click on Account Info, verify your password if it
asks you to, and your Yahoo ID card comes up. Click on 'Edit your
Marketing Preferences' and change all those Yes's back to No's! Click
Save Changes

i'm beginning to not like yahoo more and more...
i felt this way about hotmail about a year ago...
but it seems like hotmail is improving their services
and yahoo is downgrading theirs. 🙁

Well son of a....

They were all at yes! :|

If you were dumb enough to put a real phone number in your profile, there is a check box there to receive phone calls as well.

Always a possibility that the "changes" don't go into affect unless you submit any changes to your profile.

Did you actually start receiving offers, or do the options "default" to Yes when you visit the edit page. The Schrodinger's(sp) cat (Haven't slept in 2 days, so I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right thing) where the cat is alive but you can't see it and so, don't have proof. In the case of the marketing settings, they could actually be set to "no" right now and when you visit the page, yahoo "conveniently" checks off all the Yes boxes.

Opt-out is bad ju-ju.

Crapp! That's so low of Yahoo! No wonder i've beeng getting 50+ spam everyday. Damn them all for putting me in this position!!!

yahoo does not spam one of my accounts. but the spams i get from my other yahoo accounts, i think its from toher ppl. i am dell sells my email addy in mailing lists, becuz my school address... i only use it for work at school and also i signed up for dell tech support using that address. now i get a buttload of spam. sux man.

So are HOTMAIL and AOL.

Hotmail: Go to options, Peronal Profile. "Share my e-mail address." and "Share my other registration information" is checked by default. Also make sure you have everything unchecked in Free Newsletters and Special Offers.

AOL: Go to preferences, Marketing Preferences. Each option is set to YES by default. You must set these options for each screenanme you have. These options will be set back to YES after one year.

I think they really did set everything to yes. I went in and changed everything to no, exited, and then re-entered. It was still all set to "no." So it doesn't default to "yes."

I don't get much spam to my yahoo acc't, but loads of it to my hotmail acc't. I just change some settings in the hotmail options. Where are the yahoo switches again? In My Groups?

Yahoo is suck now...they have really gone downhill in the last few months.....the only reason I even keep a Yahoo logon is for the free fantasy sports games....bet those go away soon as well.....

They chainged mine as well, but since it is a defunct hotmail acct that has not been used in years, there was no problem 😀

hehe, i wondered why i was getting spam all of a sudden, and now i know 🙂 that's cool though cause i still love yahoo, they spam me much less than hotmail.

My member directory and .net stuff was set to yes in hotmail. I switched them all back to no.

Thanks for the heads up.
