YAHL2T: Help me I'm stuck

hdeck

Lifer
i'm at the point where you are stuck into a part of the prison where all the gates are locked at you can't leave. there is a cell with the health and suit powerup things and another with a crate full of smg ammo.

i'm supposed to set up the 3 turrents and fight off the waves and waves of guys. i've been through this like 20 times but for whatever reason i suck at this level. i know you can use the gravity gun to lift the turrets back up after they are knocked down, but i still can't get passed the 2nd or 3rd wave of guys.

what strategies did you guys use to pass the part?

When facing the turret cabinet, go left. You should find a very small room over there. What I did was literally HOLD a turret in that doorway (with the grav gun) after setting the other two up as distractions. You might have to drop it to get rid of manhacks and throw some grenades back, but it seems like a pretty solid strategy. You might even try setting up the other sentry guns around it for some support. BTW, this question has been answered. You should try a full text search next time (prison and sentry might be good words, but I don't know, because I didn't search).

yeah i should have searched, my bad.

anyway, i just tried it again and beat it easily. just set up 2 of the turrets in opposite corners and carried the other one. they dropped like flies.

Go to the room where the turrets are kept. Put 2 turrets in the middle, facing opposite directions. I didn't even set up the 3rd turret. Now hide in the turret cabinet. You're bulletproof. Your turrets should take out guards from both sides, and if they do get knocked over, you can set them back up without leaving your cabinet!

This is the best way I found, you don't even have to fire your weapon.

Look above the cells on one side and you will see a room. Stack 3 crates so you can get up there. Now bring 2 of the turrets over and use the grav gun to bring them to the top; set them up on the ledge. If the crates fell over set them up so you can quickly jump up them again. Now go to the third turret and pick it up. Picking up the 3rd turret is what triggers the enemies, so save right before you touch it in case the crates fall over while you are trying to climb up them. You can just drop it and run back over to the crates and get to the top. Now just sit in the back of the room or the connected closet while everyone is killed by the turrets.

Good tip. I resorted to backtracking and bringing a 4th turrent all the way from the control room from the previous level, and it still was a bitch.

How did you guys even get to this part?

I'm stuck near the beginning of the level where Alyx is recovering Eli and she leads you into a room from which you can see (presumably) the thing containing him. The door then closes and there is no way out. From here nothing seems to happen and it doesn't appear that there is anything you can do. Any ideas? Thanks.

Wow, pretty slick!

I had brought a turret from the first time you get to use them. Helped me clear out lots of areas without expending ammo. So, I set up my turrets right next to pillars or walls to make them more difficult to knock down. Then I ran around with the SMG and grav gun on prev weapon, gunning some down and repositioning the occasional turret that fell. Died a number of times to be honest, but got through before long. That was on medium.

Forgot to mention one other thing. You can block the two entrances in the hall directly below you and the passage where the turrets are stored with the table/cabinets/barrels and the enemies will all funnel through the passage directly in front of you.

hmm I just staid in the room where you get the turrents put 2 on one side and 1 on the other. Then just fought it out. Took me about 4 tries.

Jesus, you're a tactical genius! :Q
