YAHL2T: Has anyone played the Half Life 2 Beta yet?

Just like Valve to spend years and millions to have it all publicly released and ruined. Anyone who DLs it, plays, spreads the code around is part of the whole mess and should be reported. Thanks for spoiling all our fun!

I saw some posts on usenet about it. Someone said it only has 3 maps at the time and only 2 of those have working AI. No story events at all. What a shame this whole situation is. Too bad for the programmers, they have lots of work ahead of them.

So it seems like the game wasn't close to being finished. Was this a new engine for HL2 or was it the old one?
