Any particular reason why you aren't looking at Samsung DLP's? You can get a lot more for your money, the only thing is you can't hang too many of them on a wall. Still really light though.

+1 for the Samsung DLP (well, DLP in general I suppose...). It's seriously amazing how light they are.

I  my 61" 1080P.

Viper GTS

I saw a Sammy 56" 1080p DLP @ CC yesterday and it was gorgeous.

My Sammy is only 50" but it looks fantastic at 1080p with my PS3. Let me see if I can post some pictures later on.

the room its going in is really bright, and i was under the impression that LCDs were better for bright rooms than DLPs, no?

just went to CC and bought it. i looked at DLPs before, as well as other projection tvs, and i could see a clear difference in picture quality, esp with bright lights near by. one sales guy (who wasn't even my sales guy) tried selling me the $100 hdmi cables and also tried telling me that hdmi used optical  he also tried selling me a power conditioner, but i figured that was BS based on my previous experience. do i really need one?

No. This is your display. Do NOT in anyway shape or form listen to a sales guy.

That's a great price on a great TV. You had better get HD for it.

Pretty dang good choice. 1080p is the way to go; I can't stand how 1080i looks; messes with my eyes.

yeah... they actually accepted the web only $150 coupon, then i found out that i got another $100 off for upgrading to digital cable in store :D only thing is the stupid local NBC hasn't broadcast their HD feed since katrina, claiming their equipment doesnt work... yet the local ABC station was wiped out worse, and they had all their stuff up and running for the 2006 superbowl! so no HD heroes for me yet :(
