HKs are good guns, and I've been wanting one for a good while. If you're really wanting the one shot one kill then why not go with a good bolt action rifle?

Betchya my AR will print as well as any bolt gun you want to shoot out to 300 or so. Most likely farther, but I havent the skill to try and ballistically the little .223 bullets get trumped, badly, by most larger calibers for long range shooting.

Oh I'm not saying ARs aren't accurate, my brother has a customized AR that makes shooting coyotes cake. I guess I was just raised to use bolt actions for deer hunting or something.

A smooth bolt action gun is a real joy to shoot. :)

thepd7, you are right: the Desert Eagle and M4A1 became my dream guns through CS and movies over the years. (I am currently 25 years of age) However, I really love the military and was actually very close to going into the Air Force after high school. I think it was only natural that I envy the weaponry used in the military and ends up playing a large role in the reasoning for my choice of guns.

As for a reason not going with a bolt action, I've shot a .243 bolt action all my life when hunting deer. I wanted something I can take out and have some fun with at the range and that will double-up as a hunting weapon. :) .223 are small, cheap (somewhat), have amazing velocity, and just plain work. Besides, it's not the size of the gun that kills; it's where you land the bullet!

GET THAT ELBOW IN!

;)

Hahaha! Can anyone tell me the correct stance then? My roommate just told me to stand still, but I do notice that when I pick it up and aim, I do get the chicken wing look to my form. How do SWAT and tactical shooters stand?

upscillion, I can tell you that I would really like something to give me a little magnification. Like the guys above were saying, a 3x should suffice since I'll still have my iron sights. As for removing the A2 upper, we'll have to see about that. :) I'm not a massive guy by any means, but I am somewhat stalky and my hands don't really fit inside the A2 handle.

JLee, I am very set on ordering two of those Magpul Pmags with windows later today. Thank you for your recommendation and your gun looks nice. However, is that rust near the rear release pin? It looks red there...

Specop 007, I'll have to read up more on the EOTech stuff and the literature you are describing. It's a little over my head at this point, but does sound like a great (and cheaper) solution at what I'm looking for. I must ask - I have read about some AR-15 owners complaining that the recoil from the gun messes with their varmint/old school scopes. I may have misinterpreted the information, though. I'm not really looking for a supressor right now, but I did check them out. They are a spendy add-on and I don't think the deer will mind too much about my gun if they're already in my sights. ;)

adairusmc, the deagle has been attractive to me since I've played CS in the past and seen it in the movies. :D You got me, I think it's pretty sexy and I love the power behind it, but you are correct in the fact that it does seem pretty impractical. I'd really like to own one someday or at least shoot a .50 cal. I didn't shoot the one yesterday at the range because I want myself to be a virgin Deagle shooter until I get a hold of a real .50, not the .44. Realistically, I wouldn't mind a HK USP or perhaps a Beretta.

No rust - it's oil residue on the gun.

Psh! Then I am SO glad I didn't join! Haha, j/k. :)

C'mon - it has tons of power and is even so much fun to watch on YouTube! :p Plus, I have already stated that I would gladly enjoy a HK USP! ;)

Am I right in the fact that the M1 Carbine is the same thing as the 'Garand'? My dad and I were actually shooting his M1 Carbine when my friends were shooting my new AR-15. The M1 is pretty nice and was pretty fun to shoot as well. However, I found my AR to be more fun! :D

I haven't shot mine in a while either, all the cheap milsurp for it dried up.
