So I went to go 'look' at guns with my dad this morning. I have been wanting an AR-15 for several years now mainly because I enjoy the fact that the military uses the same (M4 variant) type of gun, it's really accurate, it's light, and of course, it just looks ridiculously bad-ass!

I have been reading up on the Bushmaster AR-15 rifles for a couple weeks, so I was a little hesitant about going with the DPMS (Panther Arms) brand. Well, today I read that the DPMS is the apparent 'Escalade' of the AR-15 series so I had to have it.

I'll be bringing it out to the range tomorrow and will take nicer pics with my SLR cameras (assuming weather cooperates).

Any other gun fans? I love the military look, so I put a little red-dot tacticalish scope on there for the time being. There's no magnification with it, but when shooting at dawn or dusk, it'll be easier to use than the black iron sights.

What am I suppose to do with some spraypaint and a lighter? I'd rather use bugspray if you're talking about making a torch.

I have been fond of the Smith And Wesson AR's lately.

Also, make sure to get some Magpul pmags, they are hands down the best AR/M16 magazine in existence.

At $15, I suppose I can add a couple more. The gun came with (2) 30 round clips, but the springs are pretty tight.

I just freaking love handling this thing! It pulls up so nice and smooth. Some of the other guns I was looking at were very front-heavy and couldn't balance so easily or steadily as the AR-15 does.

Everytime my roommate pulls the action back to load a new (empty) clip, he hits that switch to swing the action forward to load a bolt into the chamber and grins immediately from ear to ear!

You must have gotten a very custom AR if it takes clips. All of the ARs that I own all take magazines.

The magpul pmags are well worth it, especially the windowed ones. They are more reliable, tougher, and just a higher quality product than any USGI spec mag.

You can never have enough mags and spare mag parts. Right now I have 72 30rd AR mags (most of them brand new and never fired), and one beta-c mag (100rd), and even I dont think that is enough right now

I am. Every time they go on sale I pick up a few more. You get price breaks when you order lots of them.

I only have about 25 of them I regularly use though.

Haha, I'll give you the truck test.

At least my experiences at just the range during regular function, I've found the hk the smoothest functioning but then I don't remember if I've had firsthand with the magpul. I'll have to get one.

Just make sure you don't go to AR-15.com and start looking at all the cool things you can do to your gun. It's very easy to spend twice what you paid for the original gun on cool looking parts that really don't do all that much for the gun. An Aimpoint scope and a LaRue Tactical mount will cost about as much as you paid for the original gun.

Its ok, not like going to rimfirecentral with a $200 10/22 and spending 2k on it like some people do.

I have a few of them, so yes I have.

Pmag > HK mag. HK is a solid 2nd best though.

I have a 10/22 like that. Nothing super special about it, other than the barrel was threaded and I have a Gemtech Outback II mounted on it.

You dirty bastard! >_< I definitely bookmarked that one! It should be a fun gun to mod during the winter months and play with all summer long. Anyone have the M203 grenade launcher attachment? I think it may come in handy when there's a few deer tags to fill and perhaps several deer running close together? Just launch one into the bunch and hope for the best.

Lose the irons, mount the red dot on the flattop, get a Larue quick detach, grab some Troy railed fore end (Free float of course), stick a vertical grip and surefire light on it.

I prefer EOThingies myself. Have one with a 3x magnifier. Most likely be buying a PVS-14 to stick behind the EOThingie here in the next month or two. Talk about expensive gear, shit.

Nice rifle though. If I did anything I'd grab a .22 conversion for it so you can plink cheap.

I like the look of the A2 handle and don't mind the red dot way up on top. I got it all sighted up today and it's ridiculously accurate. Assuming you're a steady shot, you can shoot quarter-tight groups all day long wherever you put the dot.

I've been thinking about getting a scope with a little magnification. The 3x would be a great little addition, but I'm not sure I want to go ACOG yet. I do plan to use this for deer in the fall, so a little extra reach would be nice. The great thing about having both the iron sights and the scope is if a deer jumps up close in front of you, you can react and aim with the iron sights much faster than you ever could with a scope. Obviously the scope will be great for those longer shots down the shelter belts.

Next up will either be a Benelli M4 shotgun or the .50 Desert Eagle. Eventually, I'll have both, but I need to think about which I'd use more often...or enjoy more! Most likely, it'll be the Benelli.

If you want to talk about expensive gear, never look into photography...or exotic cars. Although, women just may top this list. ;

Why would you want a desert eagle? They are big, bulky, relatively inaccurate, expensive, and the 50 ammo is expensive and difficult to find.

If you want a big gun, get a Smith and Wesson 50, or better yet, a smith and wesson .460. The .460 will shoot the bigger .460 rounds, big .454 casull rounds, and 45 colt rounds for shooting cheaply. and it will be several orders of magnitude better than the Desert Eagle, for sure. The .500 smith and wesson is so much more powerful than the pitiful excuse of a 50 cal that the desert eagle shoots it is unbelievable.

Contrary to what video games and moves may show you, desert eagles really arent all that great.
