YAGunT: Where to get brass ammo cheaper than Walmart ($0.20/round)?

Anyone know of decently priced .223 thats actually in stock??
You need to check Cabela's website. They had 300 rounds of PMC Bronze for $99 shipped all last week; 600 rounds was even less (around $192 shipped). Came with a free ammo box. If you have a Cabela's nearby, it's even cheaper to pick it up in-store. They also has a Saturday doorbuster this morning; $6.29/box for PMC Bronze .223.

And before someone asks, PMC Bronze is great plinking ammo.

That sales off. I had it in my cart for a week and finally decided to get it today and it was back to $130. Was waiting because I have an 1800 round order with Sportsmans Guide that's supposed to ship at the end of the month but I'm not convinced it will. Slickguns.com is a great website to catch gun/ammo deals.

OP: Your not going to do any better than the 100 round packs for $20 at Walmart. Anytime they have it I usually buy about all of it. Same with the $28/100 .40 packs. It's dirt cheap.

Yup, and I figure at only 500 rounds of .40 it would take a long while to recoup the initial investment.

True but at 500 you dont need a fancy press. For ~300 bucks you can be up and reloading. Cost wise it means you could shoot 1k rounds fo rthe same price you probably pay to get 500. Single stage press, dies, powder throw, and scale are all you really need equipment wise for basic reloading.

for 300 bucks I could have a whole other .22 tho 😀

22 isn't worth reloading. Can buy it cheaper anyways. 380 is the same way. 9mm is generally the smallest people reload.

Rough estimate with rounding up on cost its 12 cents a round for 9mm for me. 223 is like 18 cents. 308 matchgrade ammo is around 25cents. K

I reload 9,40, 10, 357mag, 44mag, 223, 308, 300blackout, and 30-06. Saving over factory have more than paid for my equipment.

.22S/L/LR/Mag cannot be reloaded...rimfire...

Yeah I bought the 300 for $99 but its back-ordered per usual.

I said 22 not specific to S/L/LR/Mag. 22 Hornet can be loaded. People have also pulled bullets out of 22LR and replaced the with others though i dont consider that true reloading. S/L/LR/MAG arent the only 22's out there although 22lr is by far the most common (im sure, no actual numbers) are any reloaded by the masses...heck no but you do get the oddballs who do. Seen unfired rimfire cases being sold before for people to do their own powder/bullet mixtures. Never seen a die for them though (havent looked to be fair)

Yeah for the past 6 months I check every Walmart I go to for the box of 100 Federal 9mm, which is $20. Only like twice have I been able to purchase it. One time was in the summer on a Saturday, the Walmart employee said they got 100 boxes that morning and like more than half was gone already. When they don't have that, their 50 round boxes are like $13 which sucks.

Yeah used to get 9mm for $0.20 per round but these days it's much more. 🙁

I wish they would just not fucking offer the 50 rounders and only make 100s or let you get two 50s for $20.

If you are still finding brass cased 9mm locally for $10/box(50) you should buy all you want. You can get comparable prices in bulk online ($197.80/1K + shipping -http://www.sgammo.com/product/aguila/1000-rd-case-9mm-luger-aguila-124-grain-fmj-ammo-0), but generally speaking shipping and sales tax are close enough to a wash to make it a tossup. Ammo prices have been climbing steadily over the last month or two, and are likely to continue to do so, and many online retailers are having issues keeping stuff in stock.

That's because a lot of people buy into the Dylan hype from what I've seen. The Lee and Hornady stuff is still just fine for most people and are a lot easier to afford. That's at least what I found when I was looking into it.

I use a Hornady progressive and some things I like better than the Dillon, some things not. My current recipe for .40 cal costs about $.15 per round. I'm still developing a 9mm round that I like. But, there are other reasons for reloading like tailoring the round to what you like and to the gun your shooting.

I ordered 1500 and received 600 so far. I'm confident they'll ship the remaining 900 soon. In hindsight, I wish I ordered more.

Yeah apparently mine shipped. Will get it Tuesday. At least i'll have 300 rounds for dooms day 😉

Exactly how $hitty are brands like Blazer, MBI, Estate & Aguila? Would you use them at the range for $220/1000rds?

Out of your list, Blazer is the only company I've actually shot myself (Both brass and aluminum) and I've never had an issue.

There are complaints out there about every ammo manufacturer but really all of those should be just fine for range ammo. Hell, before I reloaded I had no problem at all shooting steel case ammo.

Edit: Just a note however. That really only applied to NEW ammo. The companies that reload and then sell it in stores are a little less safe to be sure

Blazer is CCI - factory new
I use Aguila for some stuff - factory new
I've only ever seen Estate in shotgun ammo - factory new
never heard of MBI - looked them up, the re-manufacture ammo.
