Been GAS'n bad lately!

Picked up a Taylor 310-CE from a local music store for cheap. He had 1k on the price tag, offered him $750 cash and he took it, got a case and a new set of strings put on her. Never been into Taylor's but for the past few months I've went up there once a week and played just about every fiddlestick up there. She just feels right in my hands:

Also just traded my 15-watt Egnater Tweaker(hated to do it but couldn't turn the deal down) and my POD HD 500 to a 63-year old gent off of craigslist. He traded me straight up for the two items listed above for his Egnater Regenade 65-watter 2x12

That thing has balls on it, jesus tap dancing christ. I know there won't be many replies here but the few that I've talked to around here about Egnater products... WOW. I'm sold for life.

Egnater stuff is pretty good, I played a rebel (20w I think) that sounded pretty good.

Yeah, I LOVED my tweaker. SO many different tones but not being 2-channel really made it hard for it to be my main squeeze. The renegade is everything I could ever need in an amp. It's got a "Blend Knob" that let's you switch it from 6L6 tubes to EL84's. Very awesome feature with their lineup.

Yeah that power tube mix idea is pretty sweet. I've got a handful of old, rare boogies that I can run a pair of 6L6 and EL34s in to get a mix but you can't dial in the specifics. It was made in the early 80s so I can't fault them 😉

What actually impressed me the most lately, which is strange given their spotty track record, is the Orange TH30 combo. It's like their old rocker30s used to be but they fixed up a lot of issues and it sounds absolutely incredible. It has a quartet of EL84s in it and the clean channel sounds very topboosty if you really lean on it. It's a great portable combo too, there's no way I'm lugging priceless amps to gigs heh.

You should post some clips of that renegade, never played one but always wanted to check it out.

i've never recorded anything but will see what i can do, even if it's off of my android phone:awe:

The Taylor 3 series is one of the best guitar values out there today. FANTASTIC playability, real wood, and it will hold its value.

You made out on your amp trade. That guy you traded lost about $200 in value 😀 The Renegade is indeed awesome. Does it have switches on the back where you can knock down the wattage?

it has the 18w and 65 w on both channels.

Turn it down to 18W. It'll preserve your tubes and you don't need that much power unless you're going to be in a huge venue 🙂 A lot of people don't know those switches are there and think they bought too much amp.

This is one of my favorite features of these amps 🙂 Some of them you can even turn down to 1W, so you can get full tube distortion at max volume without breaking any windows.

word up!

about the taylor.. i love it. BUT.. it still has an issue i asked him to fix prior to buying it. there is a hum in the strings(the low E and D) sometimes when i picked said strings. sounds like it's around or under the bridge but not sure. sometimes it doesn't do it at all.

when i first brought this issue to him he said it probably just needed a new set of strings. i don't want to take it up there and it not perform the "issue" that it does every other time i play it. any ideas to check before i take it back to the shop to get it looked at?

sorry if i haven't included enough details, feel free to ask me anything. it's been very frustrating thus far.

Played any carvin amps? I'd really love to play on a Legacy, but they are hard to find. Steve Vai seems to swear by it.

I have a 100W Carvin XV-212 combo that you'd have to pry from my cold dead fingers to take from me. Sadly, I haven't played it in a long time, but I will have it for the rest of my life.
