Thanks, there is a Henry distributor about 2 blocks from campus, I will check them out after class on Monday! And take a look at their other stock as well

Might as well get an AR if you're spending Mini-14 money IMO.
Two vastly different calibers.
Go with the 10/22 for pure plinking satisfaction.
Agreed, but I am fairly certain I saw the base wood stock version on sale for $499 recently.

I was considering this as well, any suggestions?
You can get a lower-end Savage or Remington bolt-rifle in any number of hunting calibers for around $500.
