I've never fired either except in video games, which makes it somewhat difficult to develop an opinion on a gun.

desert eagle

reminds me of the scene in snatch

"Your obviously the big dick and the man on either side of you are your balls. You know there are two types of balls. Big, brave balls and little minzy f*ggot balls.
Vinny: These are your last words so make them a prayer!
Tony: Your shrinking and so are your balls. You lack vision. Dicks aren't really clever. They smell some pus*y and want a piece of the action. You thought you smelled some good old pu*sy and brought your two little i love you*ot balls along for a good ole time. But your mistaken. There's no pu*sy here, just a dose that will make you wish you were born a woman. And the fact that your guns say replica and mine says Desert Eagle .50 should precipitate your balls into shrinking along with your presence. Now FUSK OFF!!"

Where is the "they're both inpractical except in very limited applications" option?

I've fired the DE .50, expensive ammo - not real practical in my eyes, but hey, it it turns you on...

Why not the .454 ?

Don't spoil the kid's ignorant fun! ;)

No, if I wanted to spoil their fun I'd advise them to go to the range and try shooting the guns for themselves. It'd be interesting to see the results when they find out that the guns recoil in real life is a lot higher than what they are used to, namely their mouse in Counterstrike. I think the results would include a lot of lacerated foreheads and a little bit of blood on the front sight of the gun, plus some dings on the guns from being dropped after contacting the idiot's forehead.

The .500 S&W has more energy. Besides, the Casull isn't as popular as the DE.

Since this thread seems to be about high powered cartridges... the 500 S&W does generate a lot more power than the 454 Casull.

The 500 S&W would be useful if you were backpacking in an area with highly dangerous animals. Such as grizzly territory.

What about if he has one of those force-feedback mice? :D

I'm not a kid but you spoiled my ignorant fun anyway :( Why is it that guys who don't know guns are considered kids? Not everyone grew up in the ghetto...

A Desert Eagle is ridiculous. There's no situation where I'd prefer a Desert Eagle to a wonder nine or 45. Except maybe hunting large game.

Otherwise, you have 7 shots, and I have 15. If you think a .50 cal will make a person any more dead than a 9mm will, good luck to ya.

I grew up in one of the wealthiest communities in the country, and my dad had\has TONS of guns. Most guns aren't owned by criminals, they're owned by collectors and enthusiasts. Guns used to be and in some ways still are part of the aristocracy (a nice over under, for example). In modern day, they're a sign of masculinity. You see a guy getting out a Dodge Viper GTS wearing a shoulder holster with a Colt Gold Cup in it, you think damn, I wanna make out with him. So quit being an asshat just because you don't know anything about guns.

The only time I would want a 9mm is when either it is chambered in 9x23mm, OR it has a 33 round magazine and is select fire ;)

You're correct, if I were a gay man that's exactly what I would think! :D

seems to me with a gun as powerful as either of those you would only get maybe one shot anyway. with the recoil on it getting set to aim the 2nd is going to take a few seconds And if you are in a situation where you need to pull the gun you are not going to have those few seconds.

but then again what do i know? i have only owned .22 riffles, BB guns and a OLD shotgun. heh
