All children should be taught these things. It would make this country great once again. Our children have become weak. Everyone knows this.

looks like a 1911 style from the recoil and the size of the brass I would assume .45 ACP. He needs to get better at counting his rounds he has a monster flinch that you can see when he dry fires on the empty chamber each time. That is a problem with starting a young or new shooter with a handgun with substantial recoil, they develop a severe flinch that can take a very long time to train away

Looks like it to me. Although I think if I was starting my child that early I might have them use a .22 round instead just for lower recoil.

1911 with a .22 conversion kit. A lot of the kits won't allow the slide to lock back on the last round.

It's a .45. He's not using standard loads, though. They're rounds made for competition with a light bullet and less powder. It cuts down on recoil so that you can get back onto target faster.

That is probably what it is. I have a Paraordnance 1911 with a conversion kit for my sons and it performs just like that did. We also have a Browning Challenger .22 that is a great handgun for kids to train with.

I wonder if he started on .22? That would seem logical.

Low power rounds is a good bet, I have used 100gr RNFP and lite charges for training with the right feed ramp and spring they are pretty low recoil. It not not a .22 watch the brass is .45 sized not .22

That's sad.

Why?

Because a child should never be near a gun. If you want to teach your kid to shoot, wait until they're old enough to understand what they're doing.

I didn't see any issues with safety and it was fairly apparent from the video that he knew what he was doing. I've been a range safety plenty of times, and I wouldn't have had a single word to say to him. I've seen plenty of adults who are idiots when shooting.

That recoil does not look or sound like a .22 converted 1911.
It is definitely a 1911 frame though.

I would bet it is a standard .45ACP.

They do make 1911 frames that fire almost any caliber you want.
.380, 9mm, .40, etc...

I've never seen or used a .22 conversion, but wouldn't it hold more rounds than that?
