So, here's the question..
- A friend of mine who I've had a crush on for years disappears for a while when she starts dating this douchebag

-I stop calling her and vice versa - it's a mutual thing. I told her how I felt about her and she said she was falling for said douchebag

-She messages me last night, asking me how I was doing and commenting on a blog I posted about moving

- Now her status on myspace is listed as SINGLE

SooO, take things slow or just ask the girl out? My theory is that she's not interested but just bored now that she's single, and since she enjoyed partying with me she's trying to get back in my friend zone.. right? Evidence that I overthink everything - my ex just said "Stop overthinking everything. Think withg your penis not your brain already. You're such a girl!"

Yeah.. I'm a pansy...

NOTE: I met her through a mutual friend and not myspace. I don't meet girls off of myspace, I just use it to communicate with people.

i came across a friend like that recently...she started messaging me out of the blue cause of damned myspace.
a common douchbag (maybe one in the same? :p) ruined her life, got her on drugs, gave her a kid and took off, made her put on 200+ pounds
I couldnt help but just sit back and laugh, saying wow did you pick the wrong guy

so my advice is to talk to her but just be prepared for a good laugh and nothing more cause chances are said douchbag really screwed her up and she is no longer the girl you remember

"Stop overthinking everything. Think withg your penis not your brain already. You're such a girl!"

Girls usually say this when you make a point that's right and hits too close to home.

Hell, why not? Just go out with her and see what happens. After that, if you think she just wants to be friends then just don't go out with her again...tell her you're busy, or you have a date if she keeps bothering you about it. But if you get the feeling that there could be more then go for it.

i think i'll ask her out for coffee and just be open to what she's saying without trying to guide the night too much.. would that come off as not having a backbone though?

You gotta stop assuming that they're not interested in you and start assuming they DO want to be with you.
