YAGT: VALENTINES I AM IN SERIOUS TROUBLE

I am in SERIOUS trouble here with my girlfriend. So I have been working at Game Stop for the last six months to try to save up money to get my girlfriend a really nice present for our anniversary/Valentine's Day. I was making a good chunk - about 150 a week - nice for part time.

Anyways I started spending that money on frivilous crap - thinking 'it's ok if I save a bit here and a bit there I can get enough'. Turns out I spent almost all of it... I only have a bit left - I spent about 2000 of my savings on PC upgrades, WoW Subscription fees, Burning Crusade, XBOX 360 and HALO games, and a lot of Papa John's pizza.

So my problem? It is Valentine's Day and I have no gift for her! I'm freaking out. I wanted to get her a trip to California for the summer... but thats not going to happen. She doesn't know that is what I was going to get her - but I told her it's going to be a HUGE surprise and that I think she would really like it. You can see how I am screwed.

So I need you to hear out my idea and see if it is good - and if you think a girl would like it.

Basically what I am going to do is making a MUD game in which she is the 'princess' and I am the hero who is sent to save her. Rather then equipping me with staves and enchanted items like in WoW or Guild Wars or something I am going to be equipped with 'trinkets of truth.' Basically these trinkets of truth are going to store up all my 'love energies' and can be dispelled to fight monsters, open locked doors, etc. You can fill them up by killing demons and beasts - and you will get higher level ones the more you fight - because you are proving your love. The final challenge will be to battle an evil monster who wants to steal her from me - but my love will (if she plays it good enough) triumph.

I am thinking this is a really good idea because girls like things like love and romantic heroes and stuff. Do you think this is a good idea? I really really do... but I wanted others input. She doesn't play games but I'm thinking that a MUD is a perfect start for a non-gamer.

So my plan is to make a romantic evening tomorrow and put my laptop with the MUD game on in a box wrapped up. I will have some sparkling apple cider (because I dont want her to get drunk while playing my game - it's hard to read MUDS trashed!) and some pizza I can make or something.

What do you think? I think this kicks ass! I have they basic game already designed from a past MUD D&D game I was doing - I just have to fill in the text.. gonna be a long night.

Thanks for your advice!

CLIFFS

1) WORKED A JOB TO BUY GF A TRIP TO CALI
2) BLEW IT ALL ON WOW AND HALO AND PIZZA
3) DECIDED TO MAKE MY GF A MUD GAME WHERE I AM A WARRIOR USING MY LOVE FOR HER TO RESCUE HER FROM A DEMON GUY
4) .. PROFIT? I THINK SO! DO YOU?

Of course it's real. It's freaking 2:51 AM and I AM SCREWED. I NEED ADVICE. If you don't believe me just move along.. I don't have time for jokers!

good luck! sounds like a great plan.

So you think it will work? Even though she is not a gamer I think because it is about love and stuff she will think its sweet? Plus all the time it takes to make a MUD...

If you can find a girl who'd be impressed by this I'd be blown away but I'm sure they exist somewhere.

She doesn't really like computers - she is always mad that I am on them and stuff.. she is a fan of movies and stuff.. but like I said the whole love angle seems to work for other people when they do stuff like that - so I'm hoping I will profit for it!

You get the point for creativity.

Seconded!

And after your last thread involving nachos with tomato sauce and crushed McDonald's apple pie for dessert for your lady friend... am I to take THIS seriously??

This is serious! It's freaking Valentine's day and I dont have time to deal with you naysayers. Call shens if you want but this is freaking real. I have to go code - but please leave advice for me if you have any, and dont just say 'shens'. GD.

What do you think I should call the game? I was thinking Tales of the Epic Heart: Valentines Edition

By the way giantpinkbunnyhead - that date was real even if some of the stuff i made up to seem cool - this girl (my gf) is the SAME GIRL. I cant screw this up like I did last time. Please help!

Step 1) Apply and get Credit Card, or squeeze one out of your parents.

Step 2) Buy tickets to Cali.

Step 3) Luck out and not get dumped by your GF.

If you don't follow steps 1 and 2, step 3 will not follow.

Why do you suddenly give a sh*t about making your girlfriend happy? For the past months, you've blown your money left and right, not caring at all about saving for her Valentine's Day present. RIGHT?

So what do you do? You "make" her a present using things YOU LIKE. Such as a RPG game.

I am thinking this is a really good idea because girls like things like love and romantic heroes and stuff. Do you think this is a good idea? I really really do... but I wanted others input. She doesn't play games but I'm thinking that a MUD is a perfect start for a non-gamer.

"Love and heroes and stuff" huh?

You are a selfish person and she's going to be totally disappointed and it's all your fault. Enjoy the next year being alone. But that's OK, b/c you won't have to worry about saving up for a Valentine's Day present again!

Quote of the Day/Week? More like "Quote of the Last Several ****** Months." Come on, you're just not on top of things like you used to be. I know that as the local AT Man's Man, you've got hot women to sleep with, trees to chop down, guns to clean and big trucks to repair, but dammit, I miss the entertaining and/or manly quotes. ;)

Dan - Yes I have the base of it made - I just need to make the story, the hardest part. It's a very simplistic one.

As for Michael - Why would she not like it - even if she doesnt like games? I was a fool to waste all my money on WoW and pizza - but that is the past, I realized that I dont wanna loose her because she may be the one.

I think this will work - but thanks for your comments!

 I know, I know...I've gotten soft lately. I'm not around as much as I used to be. Quite a bit has changed for me; I got engaged. :) So yeah; hell has frozen over. :D

So, I'm only sleeping w/one hot woman these days and I'm very happy. I'm still cleaning guns, killing trees and fixing trucks though.

As for the quote...I used to change it daily/weekly...but now I keep them a bit longer if I like'em. I will change my sig to reflect this.

I could not stoop that low for my girlfriend. I would never forgive myself for the behind-the-scene sin.

I am so confused - how is this sinful! It is from the heart!

Wow.

Hell didn't only freeze over... It turned into a goddamn Gift Shoppe & Bakery with complementary fuzzy baby bunnies. What the hell, man... It's like finding out Clint Eastwood is going to direct "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2." Does...not...follow... :Q

LMFAO!! :D It's not like I'm now taking ballet and painting classes with the girls. I found a good woman...and it's time. I'm not getting any younger or better looking...it's all downhill from here, so I better settle down before the rest of my good looks go to sh2t. ;)
